Well now all the Anglophones are ignoring your commands, it's probably best to learn orders in Spanish.
You could, of course, try learning manners in English. Just a crazy idea.

I have not read the entire thread yet, but... why did Julzes say something about typical 600,000 years?
If I am not mistaken, there are only 2 time periods between major eruptions, as there were only three major eruptions. So, we average a mere 2 time periods and assume it will happen again?

it goes up on average every 600,000 years and last went up 640,000 years ago so we are overdue and living on borrowed time

If it pops twice in one week and then not again for 1.2 million years then the average is every 600 000 years. It's most probably not going to go this week and there's nothing that you could do if it did.
Considering all the other much more probable dangers (Spanish Inqusition for instance)speculating on this one is silly.

NO one expects to misspell Spanish Inquisition.

whilst the science-fantasy ideas of draining the magma chamber are interesting, you have to remember that it is fed directly from the upper mantle. So you'd best be able to drain it faster than it is replenished.
re: eruptions. We know of 3 massive ones and these are the ones said to be every 600,000 - 800,000 yrs or so. Actual dates are:
1st caldera forming one - 2.1mya
2nd caldera forming one - 1.3mya
3rd bigyy - 640,000
More frequent but less catalysmic ones seem to occur far more frequently. Apparently been over 30 of these since last biggy. And the last one of those was 70,000 yr ago.

This thread is about preparing to prepare for a distant event. It's not about preparing for it. Any thoughts by anyone?

Seek professional help. Keep taking the meds. Try not to kill anyone.

HI: You are a stalker! You are insulting! You will not last here at hootoo as long as I will. You should consider leaving of your own volition, because you are wrong on the internet.

Rather than go back to the thread where you responded in place of Clive, I'll just say that 'forums' was used to reach the level of the general hootoo public. I know that you know the English language well enough. Clive doesn't.

Hi: You've really got my spirit and general nature all wrong. I'm trying to goad people into saving lives, where all about me I smell the stench of "I don't care, as long as it doesn't happen to me." You're a smart young man. Why do you attack something before you try to understand it? You say my numbers are crap. Why are they being published?

Happy New Year again, and I'm not predicting any calamities for the coming year despite HI's persistence in misunderstanding what I say (and totally ignoring it when there are numbers in it).

This is a public forum. Public means anyone can join in, (if it's an ongoing conversation usually with apologies and acknowledgements) But it's not written that anyone can't. Good grief, what a boring conversation this would be if we only ever spoke when spoken to.
>I know that you know the English language well enough. Clive doesn't.<
<--- literal metaphor.
I'm in the mood for a spot of floccinaucinihilipilification, I suspect Iago is as well.
