I went to see The Curious Case Of Benjamin Button last night.
Despite being nominated for 13 Oscars, it only managed to win 3 of them in the minor categories (makeup etc).
Now, I don't necessarily think that the number of Oscars a film wins is necessarily indicative of its quality, but in this case...yup.
It's one of those films that I find should be better than it is. Despite your suspension of disbelief over the major premise of the film, some aspects of that are still unbelievable.
And it's way too long.
You'll enjoy it if you enjoy films like Forrest Gump. I didn't, particularly. 2/5.

I went to see Vicky Cristina Barcelona last week and really wished I hadn't.
I couldn't engage with the two young women and the narrator's voice
was an irritation.
It was like being promised a firework display and all you get is sparklers;
Cruz's brief appearance was a Roman candle, then back to sparklers again.
Probably one for the Woody Allen fans.
Saw Push today, flagged occasionally but still quite entertaining with some nice
action scenes and the plotline wasn't too obvious. A nine out of ten
for entertainment.

I watched Black Sheep on DVD last night.
It keeps down the standard of cheesy comedy-horror to what you'd expect. Top stuff, and more than worth the price I paid for it.

Ok, I've seen two films this week and both were pretty good.
Push was hugely enjoyable and the second one I saw was Bolt in 3D.
I wasn't that impressed with the 3D, not as good as the original
kind that needed the two coloured lenses specs.
This kind seems to produce a depth of field effect rather than
bringing things close to your face.
Bolt is funny and enjoyable.

BBC4 showed Zidane- A 21st Century Portrait last night. It was released in 2006 but I couldn't find a cinema nearby that was showing it and I've been waiting to see it ever since. I guess if you aren't into football it would probably be dull but I was transfixed. Essentially, it was a football match with the cameras just on him but they added music at times and put quotations from him and cut to the tv footage & commentary. At half time they showed things that had happened in the world that day.
Perhaps this is the wrong forum to describe how I feel about it (I could write a lot) but it was intriguing to say the least.

last movie I saw was children of the silk road thougth it was beautifully photographed but then with scenery like tha tits hard to go wrong, the acting was okay if a bit stiff the children were brilliant and the music haunting...loved the two main chinese charaters thing they could have done better with the english actors and that the story of what bought her there needed fleshing out a bit more

I went to see Hancock thinking it was a cop film (read the wrong review, eedjuut that I am).
It was way better than I expected, and quite a shock when he zoomed up
in to the sky.
I'm like.but then it was allfrom there on.
Just watched a Finnish film last night,Zombie and the Ghost Train.
Didn't work for me I'm afraid, way too angtsy and couldn't relate to the main character.
My fault mainly, I should have chosen something light and entertaining;
another time and I think I would have appreciated it.

the kids were watching the end of narnia when i came out to work
what i want to know is this
aslans army are in the best defensive position on the battle field,
they have a hight atvantage in a naturally fortified position
thay have aerial superiority
when the queens army charge why do aslans army not
allow them to get closer so they spread out, slow down and tire due to going up hill, cut them down with waves of bow fire.
instead they charge out onto the open plain and throw away a lot of lives and give a larger enemy the oppertunity to encircle them
aslans army could have thinned the queens ranks with far less losses to them selves

That was what I thought too.
I watched Braveheart for the first time the other day and they do a similar thing in that. Also, there's one scene where he's charging into battle carrying his claymore (6ft plus sword) in one hand! I think not.

Meh, in the Chronicles of Narnia I wanted the White Queen to win. She's got all these people trying to kill her, you never see her attack first. After over a century of this, you can understand why she's a mite aggressive.
I wanted her army to kick Aslan's head in.
