I believe it is a vortex into another dimension. Julzes should be able to answer this.

As a guess, this land seems to be normally dry ... this is said to be flood water. The ground upon which the flood water is flowing has given way to a labyrinth of underground caves, and the water is draining into it. The vortex gets stronger as the hole in the ground gets eroded and bigger. The vortex shown is quite small it's not big at all. Simple geology. The ground is more like swiss cheese (lots of interconnected hollows) than say cheddar cheese. We need Rockhounds thoughts on the matter (he is a bone fide geologist).

I did once, sort of promise myself that I wouldn't post cute cat videos here.
