I saw this conversation on another Community site and I was wondering if any one had skills they wish they had learnt.

For me it is definitely money management and being emotionally independent. (I still aim to learn the latter!)

Now to answer your question seriously, I really wish I'd learnt to play the piano when I was younger... I've taught myself to play a little, but in doing so have picked up all sorts of bad habits. What's worse is that I could have had three or four years of professional lessons free of charge when I was about eleven years old, and turned them down

Ride a bike. I learnt it when I started in school at which point everybody else had.

Wish I'd learnt some self discipline sooner. It's a difficult thing to develop at this point in my life.

That sex is a wonderful thing and nothing to be scared of. I could've lost my virginity a lot earlier if I'd known that

Oh, and I wish I'd gotten into Tom Waits early enough to go see him play in London during the 70's and 80's.

I wish I'd learnt earlier that rejection (of any kind) is only temporary, and isn't the worst thing that can happen in the world.

That my husband was having an affair.
That diabetes is more likely if you're overweight, had large babies and a parent who developed it.

the stuff i needed for my exams, well actually, i wish i'd learnt the stuff at all. would have made the exam a whole lot easier


so i guess the real answer is self disiplin, which i STILL havent learnt. can it even BE learnt?
