The worst Song Ever - my vote

...and there was me thinking that whoever called them Clodplay did it deliberately.
It's what I've called them since seeing that!

'Twas me. I wish I could legitimately claim to have thought of it but it was a typo.
I've been calling them Clodplay too though!

Coldplay are better than Travis though, then again a lot of bands are.

I am now the proud owner of the original vinyl 7" of Russ Abbots 'Atmosphere' (oh what an atmosphere, I really love a party with a happy atmosphere, so let me take you there, and you and I can go dancing in the cold night air) 31p from eBay. A bargain buy as a joke for my mate.
But an interesting fact I uncovered whilst searching for it, is that since it's release, Russ Abbot has apparantly bought the musical rights to his own masterpiece and refuses it ever to be played or re released. This is why this particular nugget never appears on the 'Cheese' compilation albums or is heard on the radio playlists.
And the reason for this, he feels it is not a good enough representative of his comedic talents....
The B side is entitled 'The thoughts of a Child'. I havn't heard this one, but I can't wait. See whatever thoughts this child is having cannot be particularly profound as the song is only 2 & 1/2 minutes long. Perhaps the thoughts are merely 'Right, turn it off now.'

Am I alone in finding any output by Texas numbingly bland?

No your not.
(with the exception of 'I dont want a lover')
However 'Informer' by Snow was the worst song ever. Anyone who disagrees can liky boom boom now....

Am I the only one who was disappointed when Russ Abbot's "Atmosphere" turned out not to be a Joy Division cover?

It appears that I needto remind you all of 'My Heart Will Drone On'. Atmosphere, A-Ga-Doo, The Birdy Song et al are all ghastly but none hold a candle to Celine Dion's most hateful discharge.

GRJ no are not alone and at least you didn't have live next door to some mupppet of played on "Black Eyed Boy" on repeat for what seemed to eternity. Let's a shame "I don't want a Lover" as a really cool "Paris Texas" style intro which then launches into this fairly tedious song.
I agree with the person who says little touches the direness of "My Heart will drone on" apart from "Un-break my heart" by Toni Braxton. All I mostly loved Adam and the Ants, "Ant Rap" was dire too.

Actually, Bassman, I wouldn't count your chickens...
What we are almost certainly guaranteed is Shayne (undies too tight to mention) Ward releasing a tragic cover version of the Darkness "Thing Called Love" instead.
All things considered, I'm not sure which would get my vote for worst record of the year 2005!
