Oh, dear!
But then I saw Anthony Kiddis and the Red Hot Chilli Peppers giving a very bad, drugged up performance in a music award show of some sort, the Grammy, I think... I felt so ashamed for him.

Forgot to say about the reason for my Paul Young anecdote was that he was singing Wherever I Lay My Hat out of tune and that is why he was bottled off!

Paul McCartney did an album track called "Don't go chasing waterfalls" and I've always assumed that the TLC song was a sort of cover.
The Fast Food Rockers song has always sounded like a rip off of the Waitresses' song Christmas Rapping to my ears.

I saw the Paul Young/Genesis tour at Hampden Park, althouhg Paul Young was hardly my thing, I wouldn't have said he put on a bad show. There again - anything compared to Genesis could be said to be inferior....

The best song ever changes with my mood. The worst songever is still Lena Zavaroni' version of the John Denver classic......

Don't you just hate it when some rapper takes a brilliant song - like the Police's "Every Breath You Take" and turns it inside out in the name of art.... I ask you.... UTTER TOSH I SAY - UTTER TOSH

TOSH is an entertainer in the area I live. He is pretty cool, and he doesn't bollix up cool songs. OK country roads isn't cool. BUT!

Rap is talking. If I want to hear talking I will start a conversation with someone.

Agreed.
I've never liked Rap.
Lena Zavaroni did a version of "Country Roads"I'm glad I never heard that. I love John Denver - except for "Grandma's Feather Bed"
I like Paul Young - his "Broken Man" especially - saw a video of him singing that live and it was great

I think there are some good rap songs (oxymoron there? no, not the good bit, the rap & songs bit ), but not many and I would rather they sang it.

I can do "Walk This Way" - Run DMC & Aerosmith, which is only partly rap and otherwise outstanding, especially if you watch the video.
I quite like Eminem videos, I like the fact that he takes the p**s out of himself, but wouldn't listen to the "music" for it's own sake.

Sorry folks but a listen to the Beastie Boy's 'Check Your Head' should dispell any rap pre/misconceptions.
The worst sing ever is 'My Heart Will Go On'.
The most depressing song ever is Aerosmith's monstrosity from Armageddon. Depressing because the band that wrote 'Walk This Way' shouldn't prostitute themselves at the schmaltz altar of the Dianne Warren musical pulping machine.

Wow, another fortunate typo! Not as good as Clodplay though.

let's face it, in a world where a very lucky covers band like The Darkness make it huge, there is no more room for Irony from the likes of Aerosmith.

You can't condemn an entire catergory of music - I like some rap music like the Beasties and also some rap-rock crossover stuff like Faith No More, The Offspring and Rage Against the Machine.
That said I can't bear the likes of P Diddy (or whatever the hell Sean Combes is calling himself this week) and his ilk - and the way they build a song around a sample from a much better song and pass it off as their own original work of genius - puts the c into the rap genre if you want my opinion. I also despise the chavaunism, homophobia and general glorification of violence that you get in a lot of rap - the most glaring culpit being Enimem because he's capable of producing at least the odd decent record and is high profile. At the risk of tub-thumping here - there's a disturbing rise in crime against homosexuals indeliably linked to the rise in rap culture some the arseholes doing this even quoting rap lyrics to their victims - distrubing .
