*tries to zap over using space/time skills, but cannot* There appears to be some sort of magical barrier half-way across, where the current is fastest. I can't do anything about it. *thinks* Warriors are all very well, but we can hold our own. I say we constuct some sort of bridge ourselves, using Sharp's chains to strengthen it. What say you?

[Gandark]
that is the kinda creative solution that will get you places in this RPG.
Uhh ... bringing Flunk back ... he was kind of a one-scene joke ... I am afraid he will tarnish the image of Giants in general who, while not particuarly bright, are smart enough to be "normal" and can kick butt like Duke Nukem on steriods. Flunk is just ... stupid. Really stupid. Especially compared to other giants. Who knows, maybe he'll become my version of Marvin the Paranoid Android - a joke the author didn't really like that much but has to keep bringing back by popular demand.
If there are no warriors on this trip, I am deeply disturbed. I need to explain somehow to new people how powerful warriors really are. Magic is easily blocked and broken, but the destructive real strength is much harder for enimies to to guard against. Furthermore, magic is supposed to supplament the ordinary classes. You don't often see a bunch of wizards going on a quest together. You see a bunch of warriors and thieves who decide it would be a good idea to bring some wizards along. Wizards also make crappy knights.
Having to have an NPC to do all the heavy lifting seems to me to be rather a sign of failure in this project ... ... hmm. We really need to recruit some guys with huge swords.

no, can't do that. But you know, people can join the quest at designated times as we go along. The Inn follows wherever adventure happens. The only reason it's in Quavia right now is because there are lots of adventures happening and going to happen here. But us going somewhere else would cause it to follow us if we are the center of the most heroics, where more heroes would be most needed.
So we don't need to go back, but what we really do need is some warriors to join the game.

[Sharp]: "We do-so already have a warrior,-remember Anole was camping with us when those wolves attacked us, yes?"

: This is better then, yes?
[Sharp]: a frog jumps onto his head - because it seems that he has been standing in place while murmuring too long. }Ribbit!{
"...Interesting bit of a fashion statement."
*Places the frog off of his head, and back on the ground.*
[Sharp]: "Hey Gandark, do you reckon that there would be any sort of miller or farmer who would need to travel near the river... say, in order to get his wares to town,-for selling?"

Thorn Posted Dec 17, 2005
[Sharp]: "...I mean, [I] Could've sworn I saw some sort of a mill over at the edge of town... with a paddle-wheel and everything, even-maybe?"
*Scratches his head puzzledly*

is that a cleverly disguised request for a new p2p area? prolly a pretty good idea, but how the people eat and get across rivers is scheduled to be revealed with the unlocking of one of the other towns that is in the works. A Shire actually - one of the many in this world. Halflings are all over the place and do more than 80% of the farming. So ... based on that ... Gandark would probably be likely to know the answer to that question!
[Gandark] I think there are probably bridges and that the river doesn't usually run like this ... anyways we need to find somebody who can chop down a tree. maybe if we can get your chains spell ... and uh ... get a strong enough pull behind it ... or maybe we could burn the base of the tree down with magic Fire spells! Then use your chains spell to make sure it falls the way we want it to ... first let's find a good tree.
*moves a short distance off to search for a nice tree*
[DM] "Tree Search" successful.
when did that become a new ability?
A Tall Tree.
You are standing by the base of a tall tall tree. There is a limb just low enough that it looks like an elf could grab it if he or she jumped high enough. No roots are visible, they are buried in the earth.
if we had a dragoon he could jump to the highest limb in one jump lol

[Sharp]: "Well, I do have this trowel... Hmm,-that, or perhaps if we made some sort of catapult that was one-person operable?" *pulls some iron [think antique bed/mattress] springs out of a coat-pocket.* "I've got that,-and some basic wooden sandals." , "Oh, and here's one other thing I forgot to put away while I was in my workshop..." *holds up a chisel/small-adz*

[Sharp]: "Are you sure halflings can't wear any sort of footware?"
(thinks) : , then... *fashions some rudimentary spring-shoes* "Well, then I guess I'll just have to be the one to test -'em out." *shrugs then bends his knees* "Ready?...set?" ! "Hey um, Gandark-help! I'm stuck at/on the top of this tree!"

Thorn Posted Dec 17, 2005
[Sharp]: *takes a string & his kerchief* "Well, in any event... this is the least I can probly do to help get the tree down..." *drops the trowel down toward Gandark via miniature parachute* "Look out below!" : This is so channeling Da Vinci.
Silver Sword Quest - The Death and Return of Chivalry
Thorn Posted Dec 17, 2005
: BTW, I think it would only be fair to say that the spring-shoes break/fall into their component pieces after the one-time use, don't you think... not like Sharp had any sort of glue to hold the parts together or an auger

[Sharp]: ", not really the top... more like part or midway-up it... really"
*notices a bird's nest.*
"I think I see some breakfast" *uses a concentrated firespell to use the tip of his finger as a lighter to boil/fry the eggs.*
"Hope they don't wind up scrambled."
*Has no kerchief or string anymore, so he just drops the eggs.*
: Now-if I had a really large-blanket,-or say like maybe a curtain/quilt... Perhaps some sort of a table-cloth... *back to the 'drawing-board' <- Oh, no!

I'm afraid I'm going to have to reject your last ... FIVE POSTS!! ... for several reasons. First, because I've said several times NOT TO POST FIVE TIMES IN A ROW! Second, because I didn't say whether you made it to the top of the tree. Third, because you have produced an item with absolutely no explanation of how it got there. I've been on camping trips, and making a rudamentary pair of springy shoes isn't something I would find easy to do, even with magical powers. And lastly, because I'm the DM and I can.
OK, now that I've got that off my chest. *whew* I hope you're not mad and will continue to play. Just ...
don't
post
five
times
in
a
row.

: Well, fine-then... .
[Sharp]: "Gandark, Tobias, how's about if we go about taking the tree down a bit simpler... couldn't somebody cast rock at it... no, wait-I think I'm the only one here who knows that one."
*Gets lost in thought.*
