>>And no Steam support either>>
Better that way, I feel - the games I play using Steam tend to crash more often, and one of the Steam updates downloaded a virus onto my computer (or at least it was located in one of the Steam folders).

Also, if your Steam account doesn't work anymore for whatever reason you loose quite a lot of money you have spent on the games.

I love Steam... never had a single issue with it, and I still think it's the single best thing to happen to PC gaming.
Do Steam accounts just suddenly stop working for no reason with no chance of recovery? (Leaving aside that I think digital data is inherently ephemeral and I think relying on it as any kind of long term wossname is very short-sighted.)

Even so. I am going to assess the situation re: ESO once I've established what birthday money I'm getting this year. I can't play it on release weekend anyway because apparently spending time with my family is important or something.

I'm still not sure if I ordered the 5-day-early-access or not, less than 1½ hour left before I find out.

I *think* everyone who pre-ordered gets th early access.

I've seen some kind of 3-day-early access too
Meanwhile, I'm energizing myself listening to music like Forever Young by Alphaville:

And I'm a bit disappointed since I feel as if I'm still in a Beta mode - lag, lag, lag and then stuck in the sky when trying to jump up onto a bench. Neither /reloadui nor /stuck helped.

I finally got out of the falling endlessly trap no thanks to any ingame support and with considerable damage to my equipment - this still feels like Beta.

I'm swapping to the US server (another download, argh) because the EU server is still very much in Beta mode *frustrated*

Titania (gone for lunch) Posted Mar 31, 2014
The US version is different, with less Beta feeling over it plus a film sequence I don't remember seeing on the EU server.
Anyway, if you get stuck somehow, /reloadui allows you to stay where you are. /stuck or /unstuck is another command. The endless falling wasn't fixed by any of these, I had to press M for map and transport out of the falling.

Gold spammers, already? That means they've pre-bought the game, doesn't it? And how they already figured out how to make gold fast enough to sell it is beyond me...

Gold sellers often use bots, meaning they have automated characters which kill mobs and loot them. And yes, they bought the game. Report every single one of them.
There were quite a lot of bots in Guild Wars 2 at first, they appeared as pairs of characters with very strange movement patterns and damaged armour (because obviously bots don't go to repair stations).

Report, ignore, report, ignore, report, ignore - gah!
Gold spammers is a very good argument not to have FTP (Free To Play)!
I thoght Zenimaz had been in the business for a while? Today they started an unplanned maintenance - and the first sign I got while playing was being thrown out with the error message 'you are not eligible to play in this realm' and clicking on the link for more info only gave an empty page.
How difficult can it be to announce it in general chat beforehand? In Rift, you get both a general message in a different colour than all the other messages, and a ding-dong sound.

I*m momentarily back to playing Rift, because the US ESO server was offline for almost 24 hours, and now there's a huge patch wanting to download. I'll start it when I go to bed.
A patch to fix several issues before the game has even been officially launched? See, I did post I felt the EU server was still in Beta.

That's odd - we got a couple of on-screen messages in three languages letting us know that the Guild system wasn't available last night, so they clearly have the ability to send those sorts of messages.
I haven't seen any problems yet, but I'm bumbling around collecting resources and generally still soloing.
My husband did have a major problem though - we had a minor power cut that shut down the PCs while he was right at the end of a dungeon. When he got back in the portal to exit the area had closed, and he is stuck in there. We got through to Support, who asked us to try /stuck, but that just regenned him back to the start of the level.
I hope they've had a look at his emails overnight.
I admit I'm a little disappointed. I was happy to overlook lag and bugs in the Beta - that's what it's there for. I kinda expected them to be fixed for launch.
It's not interrupting my personal gameplay yet, but I am concerned that we are now paying to be in Beta, essentially.
*hopes*

But then, the lag was never so bad, and the bugs never so many - wait...
*brings back the first few times she attempted to play Skyrim*
You're right Mr D, Skyrim was pretty horrible in the beginning, but then, it was also so very pretty graphically - ESO doesn't have that excuse, I think.

Ah well, tomorrow is the official launch date, let's hope they've fixed the ingame mail problem before that - and synchronised the EU and the US servers...
The response time of a GM is... less than satisfactory, I'd say...
And the only comparison I'm making at this time is with Rift, where a GM will usually respond while I'm still online, unlike ESO where the only responses I've had so far have been sent to me as e-mail. Long after I've logged off.
Key: Complain about this post
