Beta testers wanted for Elder Scrolls online!
Vip Posted Mar 5, 2014
I know what you mean about not wanting to spend time crafting when we only had limited time. I did the same with character two. I enjoyed it with character one though. It didn't feel too arduous once I figured out how to refine materials (that took me ages to figure out!). Once the game is out and we have unlimited time I think I'll end up doing it a lot more.
It has, oddly, made me want to play Oblivion a lot more. Not Skyrim.

Found another survey in my inbox today

And don't believe them when they say it's only a small survey, it isn't.

No, I gave up this time, and didn't fill it in. I'm sure it's the same every time and I'm bored with filling in the same answers. Maybe I won't get the next invite...

I found some sections of the survey to be different from the previous one I filled in - but it still takes time to fill it in...

I've had no survey this time around... probably because I simply gave up trying to even get into the game.
I was hoping to get ESO as a birthday present (as go live is the same day as my birthday) but until I know whether the DirectX 9 issues have been resolved I'm not going to bother, as that will dicate whether I can get the game or whether I have to upgrade Windoze first.

I'm getting bored, lol! It's going to be 17 degrees where on Sunday, so I think I will take my dogs to the beach again.

Another invite, DirectX 9 compatability still not sorted. But combat and the starting zone have been improved! Go Zenimax Online!! Go kowtow to the vocal whingers rather than the people who are actually being prevented from playing at all!!! BAH!!!!

I think optimizing the graphics is usually one of the last things they do in any games. Adding content and improving combat is what they need testers for. And this still is a test, not a demo.
I for instance remember the beta of SWTOR being almost unplayable because of the lags, while the actual game was just fine. Guild Wars 2 on the other hand started with comperatively poor graphics which they improved bit by bit, even after the release.

Well yes, I know it's a test and not a demo. That's why I feel major technical issues supercede minor gameplay issues. The only reason they're not is all the vocal whingers who *do* think it is a demo whinging so much that Zenimax Online appear to be putting them first.
I can't test a game I can't even load. QED.

*blinks in surprise*
The beta event starting time is stated in GMT this time:
'Join us from Friday, March 14th at 5PM GMT until Monday, March 17th at 3:59AM GMT.'
*suspicious*
So now they're specifically targeting European players? Because all the previous invites I got stated some US time zone...

I hadn't read that far...

Ah, you can now choose between a Us and a European megaserver - I'm thinking the European one will be less crowded this weekend, so I'm going to try it out. Especially since I'm in no guild and haven't added anyone to my list of friends (not that I'm sure how to).

Much better graphics, some bugged quests fixed, much less lagging - but the WoW kids found their way to the EU server judging by the inane postings in the general chat channel - I'll try playing again much, much later...

No crashes so far... Suddenly I really feel like I'm playing an Elder Scrolls game that happens to have other people in rather than an Elder Scrolls-lite MMO.
New character, High Elf. Did the Wailing Prison, and then was in Daggerfall. Not some random area they made up for the game, but the city of Daggerfall. With no Go Speak To Person quest pre-journalled.
I have a radish, and a cup, and there are skill books. SKILL BOOKS. And random quests to pick up that don't appear to force you into a Big Narrative (any more than any other TES quest chain). I have no idea if the Aldmeri Dominion always immediately went to Daggerfall as it's my first time in this faction. Similarly I have no idea if other factions are now also finding themselves in cities with no idea what to do except find random quests. I do hope so.

Restart?
Meanwhile, I found an active wadda-you-call-chained-thingies and found the mobs were too many for me to solo, so I posted, in the zone channel:
'Ï've found an active rift or whatever you call it, need help!' and the name of the nearest wayshrine.
Hoohoo - players came running to help out, and together we managed to unchain it, or whatever it is you do.
Mucho repair costs though. I think they might want to reconsider this repair cost thingie.

So now we're getting perticular about who's going to be invited to a dungeon team or not? Judging my ablities?
I told him:
I'm a dps with minor healing'
'What is minor?'
Obviously too minor to even be considered. Bah, I'll go back to soloing.
