h2g2 The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: Earth Edition

*Once a prosporus city, Shadar Logoth collasped under the work of an evil councilor, spreading suspicion and hate throughout the city, until it effected everyone and everything. Then, one night, eveyone vanished. The stone towers sat silent. And the hate lived on...

Shadar Logoth is deadly to any who enter at night, and night prevails over all. The first danger is the curse of the city. Not a pebble isn't tainted with the evil and hate of the place, and carrying it more than a few days is fatal.

The second danger is Mashadar. Mashadar is like a living, almost sentient fog bank, which siphons the soul out of whatever it touches, killing instantly. It can't be killed, only driven away for a short while, and is attracted to large amounts of magic being used a once.

Last is the creatures that manage to still live in the ruined city. They are hideous, with scythe-like limbs and evil tempers. Not tough, but the stuff of nightmares.*

*With a flicker Time Traveller appears. The sentient fog immediately rolls towards the surge in magic levels. A few twirls of the Time Staff mean TT passes through a number of areas on the opposite side of the city, leaving a magical trail which attracts the soul-sucking fog, luring it away from the orriginal point where he entered, where he reapears now. His staff vanishes*

*the clouds of night split apart, a brilliant ray of lights streaks down from a point niether the moon nor the sun occupies. A shadow appears at the heart of the light.*

*A voice booms out of the light, reflects of the clouds and rubble, and seems to fill the world with that sound that is as much heard as felt*

*The Mashadar moves towards HDS, attracted by the magic

*sidles away trying not to do anything magical what so ever...*

*The Mashadar draws near to the shaft of light, but as it closes around it lightning forms around it, the lightning lashes out, hurting the Mashadar imensly. Deep within its arcane mind it decides that this is not a god to triffle with, it saunters off, saving as much face as it can, be devouring all of the arcane beases in the area*

*Experimentaly flicks a plain playing card in the direction of the shaddow. Very little spin on this one, wouldn't even raise blood if it hit*

*the card slides into the shadow at the center of the light*

*the voice booms again, with a thoughtful feeling to it*

The Ace of Hearts, how odd. Are you a prophet? A reader of cards, palms, and fates?

Not really... if I am I bend the rules

*flicks hand to produce two fans of cards. Each is inscribes ace of spades picked out in grey in stead of blach and with a skull and crossbone in the middle. These are razor cards, within their cardboard are tiny razors to improve the damage they create. TT flicks one at HDS, hard. It flickers towards his throat.*

*the shadow stands there as the cards burts into flames as they pass through the aura*

(same voice)Hmmm, is that all you are good for? Card tricks?

*the ashes of the cards fall at his feet, and the razors fall to the ground with a "tink" noise, which echos through the desimated land*

*produces asbestos set*

*flicks cards at deadly speed towards HDS's throat*

*the shaft of light suddenly closes, the shadow in it blends in with the rest of the shadowy darkness and cannot be seen. The cards split the air but not the shadow's throat. Suddenly a bright red beam of light vaporizes the asbestos pack*

The Mashadar regroups and returns with avengance towards HDS, stronger than before. Every time he uses magic it feeds from it - grows stronger and more able to resist him...

*HDS stealthily circles from his previous position to a new one, and summons a few skeleton mages behind Time Traveller. They start throwing ice and lightning blasts at his back while the Mashadar wheels about to attack the new source of magic (with Time Traveller in the crossfire )*

*Kheredine magicaly appears and starts attacking the skeletons with a video of reporting Scotland. TT vanishes and reapears directly behind hds.*

Facinating, isn't it?

*The shadow looms and seems to darken the world even more, the Mashadar turns quickly and rushes at TT again while HDS coelesces behind the skeletons, who are freezing and electrocuting the Kheredine, which is playing havok with the vid system*

*freezes time*

*walks calmly past the mashdar which is still going to where TT was just before. Calmly walks past each skeleton removing its legs as he goes. Walks a distance away*

*restores time*

*mashadar gets confused because it's surrounded by magic, and the skeletons, learn about the gravity of the situation.*

If anyone but me did that it would certainly be called cheating...

*the voice that is felt and heard booms again*

...and to assume time means anything to me, would be equally as bad

*blood gollems surround the mashadar, assualting it with fire, poisen, ice, lightning, and necrotizing spells*

But each person has their own time, and I cna change all

*the Mashadar shrinks away, again overwhelmed the powerful magic assailing him*

I'm kind of under the impresion that it lives off magic, never the less...


*draws rapier and advances to hds*
