Hope you're enjoying them!! You have some great episodes ahead of you. What have you watched so far??

Hmm, Christmas Invasion, New Earth, Tooth & Claw (is that right?), and Scool Reunion. I've also managed to see the episode with the Cybermen and Daleks, where Rose gets stuck in the parallel reality with the Torchwood people, and one with some tentacle-faced creatures on PBS. But as soon as I figured out they were running it (at a weird hour on Saturday night), they stopped running it at that time.
(Previously, friends have been kind enough to send me Voyage of the Damned, Smith and Jones, and an episode from Series 4.)

I think season two (Tennant's first year) was the strongest of them all. Almost all the stories are good although some will tell you that Love & Monsters is the worst ever - but I liked it, if only for ELO and the pacing.

Series 2 got off to a promising start but then died about half way through when the romance got in the way, series 3 was completely ruined by Martha's puppy eyes but was redeemed by some fantastic episodes, series 4 has been by far the best of David Tennant's tenure as The Doctor and that was because of the chemistry between David Tennant and Catherine Tate, Tate's fabulous acting and some incredible episodes

well scifi channel had a fun weekend with old who episodes. Didn't see them all, but was interesting watching them again. Seems just anyone used to be able to wander into the TARDIS and back out again.
And on the tone of things, there's always been some sort of link between the Doctor and the TARDIS, but do not the new Who series seem to make it a more 'exclusive' relationship? Can't say too much more exmple-wise due to those on here who haven't seen all the series (its all in the backlog anyway!), the TARDIS is only his because he currently has position - whereas the new series seems to me to be saying it is basically built for him. maybe nothing, maybe just me.
And as a final note, I wish I'd been a bit older in the Peri years, I think I'd have got a lot more out of Doctor Who

I think I'm going to feel the same way about the "romance" thing, but if the episodes are at least good, I'll continue to be entertained. And David Tennant's always comfortable to look at as well.
Glad to hear Series 4 is so good- can't wait till that's released on DVD. I've got it pre-ordered.
I actually cried at the part in "School Reunion" when K-9 stayed behind. I've always sort of loved that daft tin dog.

Oh, and once I've caught up on all the old Tom Baker eps, I'm going to get as many of the other old ones from Netflix as humanly possible. It'll probably take me the rest of my life to watch them all.

Maybe if we do a mexican wave, and Ferretbadger can imagine it is a royal wave
Hey psychocandy, how late are you staying up to watch your DVD's? Don't go more psycho due to lack of sleep!
Dr Who
psychocandy-moderation team leader Posted Aug 26, 2008
As long as we're careful how many fingers we use to salute him!
Jemstone, we normally don't stay up *too* late around here. Both my better half and I start work around 6-6:30 AM so I normally crash by 9:30. NHow we've finished dinner and dishes, we can manage two episodes before it's time to hit the sheets.
But I've got a holiday next Monday so I'll be watching a fair bit over the weekend!

S2 is my personal favourite too - I don't think there's a single bad episode in it (I rather liked Fear and Monsters and Fear Her, which most people seemed to hate) and there's a few *excellent* ones like Tooth and Claw, The Girl in the Fireplace and The Impossible Planet/The Satan Pit (imho the second best 2-parter of the new series, after S4's Silence in the Library/Forest of the Dead)
Really can't wait until November when I can get the S4 boxset.

Watched Girl in the Fireplace last night- I thought it was pretty good. I think the Cybermen are pretty creepy, too.
I'll get my S$ boxset in November so I can watch at the same time as you. I've heard that those are some of the best, but haven't seen any of them yet.

I only cottoned onto the sci-fi channel Who-fest on Monday, so I only got to see the Caves of Androzani (spelling?) which I vaguely remembered from my youth, and the two doctors story (which I didn’t – memory is a weird thing)… most enjoyable . I can only assume that the cast of the Two Doctors lost a lot of weight while filming in Spain – wandering around in full Sontaran get up, or Jamie’s full kilt can’t have been too much fun!

Ah yes, the Caves - I remember seeing an interview with Davidson where he saying he was rather unhappy with the composition of the shot where he dies - seemed to think no one would have been watching his acting for some reason.

how'd you manage to get it already? Didn't think it was out as a boxset yet. Thought only the first couple of individual discs were out so far.

That smiley tells me this 'box set' may not be quite the same as the one that'll be in the shops this November...
