That's a great idea, FB.
I'm very interested in discussion about Dr Who the TV series but have no interest in fanfic (that's just my personal thing, nothing against those who write or read it). So a dedicated fanfic thread is very useful both for those interested in fanfic (somewhere to go to discuss it) and those who aren't (saves them having to decide to unsub as every new posting is no longer fanfic-related).

Yes, thanks, FB. I have no interest in fanfic either, and was about to unsub myself, and I haven't been subscribed for long. I'll be glad to see the thread turn back to discussion of the shows.
Since the program only runs on cable TV here (to which I don't subscribe), and apparently a full series behind, I've been stuck renting one disc at a time and have only seen a handful of episodes of the newer series. I've been enjoying "lurking" this thread to see what I'm missing.
(I should be receiving Series 2 and 3 on DVD in the mail today and a kind friend is mailing me a bunch of eps from Series 4 to hold me over till the DVD release in November, so I hope to catch up to the rest of you soon. )

I'm getting withdrawal symptoms lately. Read DWM and the comic story in there got me wishing for more. Have to resist the Amazon urge!!

It did work incredibly well with the audience and I don't think it was really designed to stand alone.

Were people being sprayed with water when the Graske was running around?
Dr Who
Jim Lynn Posted Aug 25, 2008
I think they might have been. Also pages of the musical manuscript flew out of the screen at the appropriate moment.
The whole thing sounded great on the radio and I wish I'd been there.

It was recorded for TV so it'll be shown at some time. Possibly around Christmas to coincide with the Christmas special.

I guess you watched this version http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IvHcE0dgHy4 which is all very one-sided.
This version is quite interesting ... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iwzxVdA2F48 because someone has overlaid the Radio 3 broadcast with the visuals. You begin to get an idea of how well it worked with the audience.

Traveller in Time hearing both sides of the portal
"The guy did quite a job at keeping it lip sync It really feels like hearing the other side of the phone call
Brilliant; 'Ood to the Universe' He must have nicked some play of John Cage "

All hail Ferrettbadger! Like psychocandy I was about to unsubscribe from this conversation and it used to be my favourite one. Nice to have normal service resumed here and the conversation back to being about the show.

Careful, we don't want to corrupt him by giving him too much power. Can you imagine a corrupt Ferretbadger?

I have to admit it's fun to see people's corrupt sides from time to time.
I've received my DVDs- they arrived yesterday- so I'm busily trying to catch up. Watched the first four episodes of Series 2 last night.
