yeah, there's still the quality of production to consider then...

The series almost had a soap-style ongoing storyline in the very early years with William Hartnell, with stories running for variable lengths & not having overall titles on-screen. It did make for an exhausting run for the regular cast.
Imagine if Eastenders had a core of four characters & everybody else was replaced every few weeks. It might actually be vaguely watchable.

Eastenders is too far-fetched anyway. Nobody swears & hardly anybody watches telly.

I thought Ecclestone era series was the Eastenders/Doctor Who crossover.

Yeah, i know RTD tried to make it more domestic to keep a wider audience figure so it would appeal to more people.
That might just be trying to hider what it is though...
I think enough people are into it now to make some of it slightly more hardcore sci-fi, if you know what I mean...

that just reminded me to search for the latest news on Torchwood series 3 - and ended up on a site where torchwood fans were refered to as 'Woodies'. Hmmmm. Perhaps a better name could be thought of!

wHAT IS THE scariest TV show ever? What is the scariest Doctor WHo, not Blink?

Well I know a kid who wouldn't go upstairs after watching the 'Horror of Fang Rock' on DVD a few years ago. A Tom Baker story with the horror being a big green blob of bubble wrap. Not the CGI of the new Dr Who just good solid old fashioned SFX.
Blink was more psychological and leagues above anything else RTD dragged up.
Someone else said one of the scariest things was in 'Rememberance OF the Daleks' a Sylvester Mccoy story when the Daleks finally floated upstairs.
Ghostwatch was very scary for many people and even though I knew it was a hoax looking at the retrospective sites with 'Mr Pipes' I can see how it put the heebee-jeebees up people at the time.

Blink was scary though. The Empty Child was kinda freaky too though.

Didn't RTD write Midnight? That was pretty scary, I thought.

Suppose we've had a few ones that have been scary in different ways. Like Blink or the Library double episode was something you couldn't see, where ones like (going back to Eccelstone) Rose or the Empty Child were things that were seemingly harmless in the form of a child or shop dummies that turned out to be dangerous.

As I have managed to grow up with a morbid fear of shop dummies I would hazard a guess that the first appearance of the Autons must've been a bit scary at the time!

Some of them are quite scary looking. The ones in Next and Debenhams especially. And any of those ultra trendy ones with the twisted expressions and the green quiffs. Or old batrtered ones with the paint coming off.

By the way, I have a story in H2G2. Ace's Choice: type into search H2G2 it's in two chapters. It's a sequel to Remembrance to The Daleks, but instead focuses on OMEGA. iT FEATURES WHAT HAPPENS IF THE same TARDIS lands at the same time, but from different points of time, in this case the First Doctor's TARDIS and the Seventh's.
