It was the series with Joanna Lumley and Ilya Kuriakin from Man from Uncle. It was probably the one with the coastal house.

What's the episode where the Dalek invades a school, and all the children look at it?

Reefgirl (Brunel Baby) Posted Aug 11, 2008
Sapphire and Steel and he's not Ilya Kuriakin anymore he's Dr Ducky Mallard

Possibly. Anything could happen in Sapphire and Steel. Much of it making no sense whatsoever....

i'VE SEARCHED. Nope. Please will someone tell me was there a doll, yes or no!
Dr Who.
IctoanAWEWawi Posted Aug 12, 2008
well if it had them two in it then it was.
But if you do search again the entire scripts are on line somewhere - I remember reading through them several years ago. They made much more sense then!

I'm pretty sure it isn't Sapphire and Steel. I am watching the shows on DVD at the moment...superb stuff hasn't aged if you ignore the of-the-time fashions.
I had a quick look at the precis' of the shows and a doll doesn;t spring out of any of them.

"are we talking about an old who story here or what?"
Don't be silly Now I've heard about this TV series which has an old man travelling around with his Granddaughter and two school teachers in a Police Public Call Box... any good you recon?

Apparently not, so I shall start again.
It was suggested that Dr Who could be a sci-fi soap opera, but I think this would be really difficult to do since it's not like a normal soap opera where it's basically real life and just filming. Sci-fi, especailly dr who, uses CGI and complicated plot lines and different settings to the everyday, so to do it as a soap opera would require an army of writers to keep the episodes good enough, and a massive filming crew to be able to churn out episodes in time. If it was possible I'd like that idea, but I really don't see how it would be possible to do if the show was to remain any good. Maybe one week of that could work (like Torchwood is going to do next year) but it couldn't be kept up for long.

Jozcoz Posted Aug 13, 2008
I agree, if it could be kept good, then it would be awesome, but the series looses impact...
If you watch an entire series of 24 back to back the cliffhangers have WAY less effect on you than if you watch it week by week.
The same would happen with Who i'd imagine

Bright Blue Shorts Posted Aug 13, 2008
It is possible. Clearly not sci-fi but "The Bill" went from being hour long weekly stories to in its 80s beginnings to a twice-weekly 30-minute soap and then back again to hour long. (Can't tell you much more than that, it's not really my thing).

Jozcoz Posted Aug 13, 2008
also, if it's a soap then there wouldn't be series... meaning people would find it harder to get into

U12792173 Posted Aug 15, 2008
I think it'd have a different five-part story, from Monday to Friday, then an omnibus on Saturday night.
