Ugh no! I know he is very popular but Bill Bailey would irritate me intensely as the Doctor, and I don't think he'd suit Moffat's style either.

Jozcoz Posted Aug 5, 2008
true... he doesn't really so serious
I'm thinking comic releif special though!

Instead of Bailey they could get the guy who played Bernard Black. With that attitude.

Galigan Posted Aug 5, 2008
Or both, with a few more people, like in the Time Crash special with Rowan Atkinson and others in it.

Both Dylan Moran and Bill Bailey would be bad as the Dr IF they were doing their Black Books characters or their stage persona's...though Dylan Morans characters are basically him anyway(he might have a bigger range but I haven't seen too much of it).
Although comedians usually do make good drama actors.
RTD did tend to use his reportory actors, soap stars, comedians and the Pink list.
Not sure what Moffat will do: use his favourite actors or just use actors for the jobs rather than mates.

Heard on the radio recently the RTD thinks Amy Whinehouse would be great. But please NO!!!!!
We're keeping DT for a while longer. The longer the better.

They do have a sense of insane-ness about them. Though the Doc has to have that serious quality too.

I think Izzard could do a bit of serious, but I'm not convinced that Brand could.....he'd just be too crazy

Not panicing yet
No, what actually happened was the interviewer mentioned Winehouse and RTD laughed and said that would be a good idea or interesting. He did not give the idea. Subtle difference on journo spin.
However...Noooooooo

Galigan Posted Aug 6, 2008
Was Winehouse mentioned as the Doctor or as the alien?
Izzard can do serious enough I think, he played a good Reepeecheep (sp?) in the latest Narnia film.
