...Now back to Torchwood

"the Time War is hidden from us to a larger effect"
I suspect we'll find out a lot more about the Doctor and his role in the time war in the remaining specials - the last one in particular, given some of the photos.

It's my understanding that they don't want to be so specific about the time war, just to make thier lives easier...
Although i'd really like them to do a timne war series...

maybe not specific about the time war so much as what the Doctor got up to and the repercussions. But I shall say no more, tis just conjecture.

If we get any details of the Time War, I suspect it will be at the end of the current incarnation of Who. We first found out about the Doctor's past - Time Lords and so on - in The War Games, the last Troughton story before the show switched to colour, became Earth-based and halved the annual number of episodes. The 'Cartmell Masterplan' was eventually disclosed in the final New Adventure.
If it doesn't all come out in RTD's last few episodes, it won't come out anytime soon. I think the current Who team are aware of the perils of destroying the mystery of the character - that's a bid part of why they've had a Time War in the first place.

Oh how I wish there was a Time War story! Ok, so I know it'd have to be Paul McGann or Eccleston, but it'd be interesting to fill in the gap. Always wondered what actually happened. And what that thing was that the Doc had to do to end it that meant Gallifrey burned.

There's a lot of parallels between the Time War on TV and the Time War described in the EDAs. But there are differences too (the Daleks weren't involved in the EDAs and the fate of the other Time Lords is different). The destruction of Gallifrey is one of the highlights of the entire range.

and if you've seen the location photos for the last special eps it does seem to imply things will diverge even further...

Doctor Who
Alfster Posted Jul 24, 2009
I like the new outfit. It's quirkier than the previous 2 but still 'real world'.
Of course, people are saying it's not his 'real' costume as they don't like it. Some have even said he's a young Dr '1' i.e. Hartnell, which will allow Tennant to make the rumoured D Who movie...presumably with RTD at the helm...
The new series is going to be interesting with Moffat at the helm as I think it's going to be a bit more old school.

I *hate* the new outfit but I can see why they've done it: youngest ever Doctor plus a young and (so I'm told by those that way inclined) attractive assistant. They had to make it clear it wasn't going to be some sort of Doctor Who meets the O.C.
That said, I couldn't care less what Eccleston or Tennant wore so it won't be a problem for me.
