I think the new outfit looks silly if I'm honest. Looks like they're trying deliberately to make him quirky and making him look stupid instead. However this does mean they're not got for a modern look as DT's costume did so it could be making the point that it's going back to the roots of the show. Honestly though? When I first saw I I hated it. New viewers who are used to the regenerated (*ahem*) show, like me, aren't going to be used to it (DT and CE both looked fairly modern) and may not take it seriously until we've seen it in action, which isn't for a while yet. I hope the costume works, but so far, for me, it really doesn't.

Haven't seen this outfit. I'm guessing we're talking Matt Smith? Anyone got a link?
By the way, that video was quite interesting. Haven't made it to the end yet, but will check out the band later.

It does look a little... odd
Of course thats not unusual for the Doctor... I'm kinda hoping that outfit will be a one-off like in the becomming human story...

Yeah, short attention....just wanted to get back and post something before I got carried away looking up Dr Who on youtube.
That is such an odd outfit for Matt Smith. Don't think I like it.

Anyone else seen the trailer for the christmas special yet? Looks rather good...
Doctor Who
Jozcoz Posted Jul 29, 2009
it was shown at the comic con... there are poor quality vids on youtube, but they're good enough... it's probably gonna be bolted onto the end of WOM like they did with POTD

I put a link to trailers over in the Spoilers for Specials thread.
Doctor Who
Jozcoz Posted Jul 30, 2009
actually, i'm interested in what non-spoiled people think is gonna happen in the christmas specials...
Doctor Who
Giford Posted Jul 30, 2009
Speaking as a non-spoilered person... dunno
There'll be a regeneration, of course - presumably towards the end of the last special. I watched the trailer for WoM and promptly forgot it. That's kind of the point of avoiding the spoilers!
(Though since RTD does play games with misleading spoilers, I'm not sure whether avoiding the spoilers might reduce the 'Who experience'.)

The christmas one shown was similar in style to the one for the next doctor... basically a sequence of flashing images then a line of text
Doctor Who
Bright Blue Shorts Posted Jul 30, 2009
RTD's trailers tend to have a lot of misdirection in them anyway
Doctor Who
Bright Blue Shorts Posted Jul 31, 2009
But he wasn't the next doctor ... that's quite misdirected isn't it?

Jozcoz Posted Jul 31, 2009
That stuff wasn't in the first trailer though... it just said COMMING CHRISTMAS 2008 - THE RETURN OF THE CYBERMEN (feels need for a<cyberman>

It's right that the trailers kinda give a deceptive wrong idea, like the "next doctor" and the doc's daughter.
