WARNING: SPOILERS FOLLOW!!!!
She only found that out _after_ she nabbed her boss' ID to snoop around. At first, she was just indulging her own curiosity.
It started when Capt. Jack called. If she'd gone in to Frobisher and he'd dismissed her, she would have had cause for suspicion: Why is the expert on these matters not being consulted? She didn't do this, though. She covered it up, took her own initiative, and started second-guessing her own bosses, all on the basis of nothing at all*.
* Except possibly "instinct", which counts for a lot in a program like Torchwood but in reality is the same thing as "nothing at all".

I've been really enjoying it. Plenty of action, interesting story, and a few laugh out loud moments.

I think Lois will join Torchwood, either as tea girl (taking over from Ianto) or as the 'Heart and Soul of Torchwood' (Taking over from Gwen)

I'm loving it - truly gripping TV. The scenes with the 456 were spectacular and, as has been said, seem very Moffat-esque in building tension and simple arrangements.
Not overly surprised by Jack: he's not a nice person. He can be heroic when he wants to be but I think ultimately he's a pragmatist. He'll do *whatever* keeps him and those he loves safest.
Audience share of the episodes has be very good, trouncing all opposition. If it's not careful Torchwood might come out of this as a respectable TV show
Gif, I'm not surprised by the idea that you have friends so much as the thought a new dad is allowed to go out with his mates

Oh dear, a director on Day 4 who likes handheld, shakey, close-up semi-out-0f-focus camera work...so boring, so annoying.

I didn't see that coming.
Something tells me this is the last series ever

You know that happened because someone said no-one had died yet, right?
But methinks that RTD is gonna have his big finale tomorrow. And I think he's earned it - that was a bloody awesome episode!

The whole series has been excellent, real edge of the seat stuff.

I'm glad I was out of the room during the Ianto death scene, all I saw from the other room was my living room being bathed in bright red light every couple of seconds. The poor epileptics who were watching...

*SPOILER*
Did anyone else spot the imprecision in the dichotomy of"
Random Cabinet Drone: Whatever shall we do 385,000 or 6.7 billion, a war we can't win or a war against our own people.
PM: Frobisher - make the plans!
[In my head]
...err which one Sir?
Also...
Jack: Evil aliens you will give in or we will release the records to the PUBLIC!!!
[In my head]
Evil Alien: Or we could slaughter your armies effortlessly and take ALL the children. Problem solved.
Jack. I ...er...oh yes...I ...um...didn't think of that.

The 'conversion' of the twisted black ops. lady was also a bit textbook.
Even so tense stuff - I was not expecting them to kill

It will be awful...if it sticks of course which I am not sure it will based on the clips from tomorrows episode.

Sounded a good plan to me too. Knock down the crime rates and obesity rates.

I thought it was a classic bit of RTD to take an 'issue' and give it a sci-fi whovian twist, the lens through which to view ourselves sort of thing.
The idea of Earth's-overpopulation as adumbrated by the slightly nervous and sweaty Cabinet Officer had that ring of the banal and completely justified rationalisation of evil (or as the Aliens tolled out the infant mortality statistics and chided: and what is your reaction? we ask only for 10%.) was for me the highlight of the episode because it was forcing you into thinking about those issues albeit in a deliberately ramped up and heightened way.

Just like reducing carbon emissions by 80% in 40years time. Reducing the population growth would be a better thing to do. 1 kid per family...the Chinese have the right idea. And no, I am not suggesting a cull!!!

HonestIago Posted Jul 10, 2009
To be honest, given the school I work at, I probably wouldn't object to said cull.
That really was incredible TV. The only thing is they can't muck Earth up too much because the Doctor has got to come back to it.
