actually, I would have interpreted that as meaning that it was an option available to the Editors of DNA sites to have the "button" (as it were), but not that all the existing sites do.

After re-registering I have attempted to post under 'the great debate' I assume that the site cannot handle the traffic it is recieving as it takes me several trys {timed out after 30 sec} to get on. Several times I gave up. Then when I do get on I am told they are closed so I have to wait for my post to be visable.

Very frustrating. Would not having just One thread {say the origenal one that has been active since summer of 2002} for all discussion on the Iraq war be a good compromise? It would simplify moderation and still allow researchers to stay onsite to disscus a important matter?

Just a humble opinion.

I'm very disappointed you don't have a pre-mod button, Mina. That would have been great smiley - erm My sources must have told me a slight mistruth. However, Jim does seem to weild rather a lot of power for a non-member of the editorial teams, even to the extext of doing so un-moderating...

Hello Everybody!

I have spent the day (and yes, I do mean all day smiley - erm) summarising as much as possible of the debate on this issue. It is far from finished, but I would appreciate feedback and assistance. It's at A1003159. Please, all check it out.

I hope I haven't offended anyone by what I have put there, or by quoting without permission. It is intended to be a comprehensive and impartial overview [and a rather large piece of displacement activity from boring revision smiley - doh].

I am posting this here because it seems to be the most active of the threads discussing this, and is more or less the only one on which I am up to date backlog-wise! smiley - yikes

I've made a suggestion here: F118784?thread=259360 which might move this debate to a constructive/positive outcome.

Ashley, with the greatest respect, what might move this debate to a constructive/positive outcome is that the BBC admit that their present policy on discussion of this WAR is ill-judged and censorious.
