i'm caroline aka daraline (in association with the other half, darren), and this is my introduction. since you have taken the time to pop in and say hello , it's only polite that i should tell you a bit about myself.

well, 9-5 i'm a civil servant, but in real life i'm a heavy metal and hard rock loving gal, who enjoys reading, especially scifi and fantasy , but have been known to dip into voltaire and ovid. i write the odd short story.

i've been here for a few months now, and am having a whale of a time. i'm no expert on h2g2, so if the odd mistake creeps in, please forgive me.

i live with the aforementioned darren and our zoo ,, . i'm also pretty dippy about animals, and i'm sure that most of the guide entries i post will be about the benefits of living with pets. well the guide entries i post that aren't about why rock and metal are the best music genres going. not that i'm biased or anything!

i am the founder member of the church of caroline. my loyal followers are crazyhorse and sideliner.

there are 9 commandments and they are

the bit that tells you about my likes and dislikes

well the list of likes is as follows;

music

Pink Floyd, jethro tull, queen, metallica before they got all up their own bottoms, marilyn manson, tenacious d, the eagles, the blues brothers, the sweet, megadeth, wasp, murderdolls, saxon, iron maiden, led zep, red hot chilli peppers, black sabbath, ozzy, soad, judas priest, meat loaf, the rolling stones, ac/dc, the who, bon jovi, the doors, electric six, def leppard, guns n roses, alice cooper, skid row, poison, cinderella, whitesnake, the quireboys, thunder, cradle of filth, bonnie tyler, kiss, the darkness, aerosmith, well you get the picture

musical dislikes;

the majority of the stuff in the charts, dance urban hophip or whatever you want to call it. house, garage, shed and patio music. booo!

generic likes include good quality milk, reading, current affairs, rocky horror picture show, herpetology, looking after all my animals, history, especially the tudor period, my favourite monarch is Elizabeth I. sci fiand fantasy, and fave authors include terry pratchett, a certain mr adams, arthur c clarke, robin hobb and scott adams. i also like going out with my friends and or the lovely darren. i am also rather too fond of cranberry breezers and any blue alcoholic drink! my fave tv shows are the various incarnations of star trek, buffy, futurama, v, the league of gentlemen, spaced, red dwarf, M*A*S*H, married with children and real life crime stuff like medical detectives, forensic files and cold case files.

generic dislikes, well there aren't that many, but i stick vehermently to them. spelling mistakes(yes i am very retentive at times), people using f instead of th, the current fashion for the crotch of mens trousers to be between their knees(there is nothing wrong with the good old fashioned spray on jeans of 80's and early 90's metal, sigh), and being woken up by my alarm clock from a good dream. o, and being late for anything! and chris tarrant.
