Typical! I lose my internet connection for a day and something momentous happens!
I have every confidence that the trial will prove a great success as nearly all h2g2ers are a trustworthy bunch.
We'll try to run a special celebratory edition of <./>ThePost</.> next week, so any stories about mishaps through moderation/smiling through the tribbles - erm, troubles/thoughts for the future would be greatly appreciated.

I'll see if I can get some stories together for you Shazz, from the other side of the fence. Some of the complaints we're had have had me in fits of laughter. I'll have to ensure I'm being ethical though, I'll see what I can find for you!

May I offer another candidate for a name: Moxon.
The moment Mark left we get all kinds of new things to play with. He has meant so much to h2g2, he deserves to have his name made immortal.

You'd have to ask the italics about that.
*wonders just how ironic it would be to be moderated in this conversation*

If I read the new rules correctly, you may then spit as much as you like, only the ones hit by it may complain about it.

Since I've come into this conversation rather late, I simply want to add my congratualtions to everyone that has made this a "safe" site, and have earned the trust of the BBCi in such a way!
You are all to be applauded greatly!
Good job!

OK, breaking the house rules... lets see :
"Please don't impersonate others."
I am [Insert Italic's Name Here] in disguise
"Postings or entries containing languages other than English may be removed."
Salut! Je m'appelle Metaki.
Come on, someone moderate me !
Anyway, now that I've done that, I'd like to say how amazingly happy I am that this is going to happen. to the Italics!

Excellent news.
I can't remember the last time I ed a post, but I wouldn't hesitate in my capacity of ACE.
Congrats to the community as a whole and I'm sure we won't let the BBC down.
*wonders if the pre-Rupert objectors will be back*

>>If I read the new rules correctly
There aren't any new rules - they are all exactly the same, and should still be upheld.

Perhaps now we can bring back the Moderation Helpdesk!
Damn fine news, and hats off to Peta for finally persuading the Ed Pol guys that communities like this don't need nannying. Looks like female charm worked where my, er, rational arguments didn't...
Much all round, I say.

Hi Mark! What have you been up to, then? We sure are missing you! I was in Oxford with Abi and friends at the Meet yesterday - I was laughing so hard because I received an email that purported to be from you - a Collaborative Approval note! (This should be all fixed up next release.) How are you liking h2g2 without all the extra Editor buttons?
Whoami?

Glad to see you're still lurking Mark.
Congrats to the team and the community for showing the BBC that we can be trusted. May the pilot go well so they can find their trust is not unfounded.

Something to cheer Mark up on his jaunt into some of the many, many places in the world I haven't visited then
And yes, points above are good ones - the rules are identical, it's up to us to police ourselves. Think we can do that? I do.
