not that this is a major concern or big priority, but just out of curiosity, will suitable links that were previously failed be reinstated (eventually)?
no matter, really, its great news at any rate!

Hi St Broelan,
Previous links that were removed from postings can't be reinstated unfortunately, because they were cut out of the postings and replaced with [URL removed by moderator].
Legacy postings that have URL's in them will now resurface with their URL's intact though; so that's a good thing.

Couldn't you persuade Jim to write a script to recover pre-BBC URLs which were moderated out of the backlog...?

"Couldn't you persuade Jim to write a script to recover pre-BBC URLs which were moderated out of the backlog...?"
That wouldn't be a good idea, because we'd then have to re-moderate all the Postings again (the script would simply reinstate the original copies, so would have to re-star out any swearwords, and check the rest of the content, as well as the URL itself to check it wasn't linking to porn). Nice try, though!
"Next stop? Well, you know what I have to say to that: Other languages. "
The ban on non-English languages is *not* down to the policy makers - they're happy with the translator volunteers scheme as a concept. However the moderation tools are not designed to let members of the public moderate content, so we had to do it totally by hand, and to be honest it was such a huge effort to do it by hand, that we've given up.
So I've added a feature to the to-do list at <./>Development-Features</.> called 'Moderation Tool Support for Volunteer Translators', to join the thousands of other ideas on the list. To reiterate, we cannot support non-English languages because (and only because) we do not have the technical infrastructure to enable volunteer moderation to happen, but once we do have that infrastructure, it should be possible.
The universe is finite, though, so we cannot do everything immediately. We apologise for the inconvenience...
