That troll... it really looked like it just wanted a hug!
The horn of Borimir sounded like a duck.
Arwen totally removed one of Frodo's crucial early scenes (the defiance of the Black Riders).
Did anyone else notice the line:
'This is the finest weed in the Shire' !!!!!!!!!!!!

Otherwise, very good.

p.s. Galadriel was rather plain for a beauty.

Actually, Tolkien called it weed too.

Speaking of... was anyone else a bit frightened when Galadriel was tempted with the ring?!? I thought that was quite an alarming scene!

Galadriel was plain? That is so completely unlike my impression that I'm wondering if we saw the same movie...

Well, I loved the movie... I'm definately going to see it again!

I don't have any quams about it, except of the few plot changes
(which I think couldn't have been avoided)...

I cracked up at the various weed references, but Mr. Tolkien does call it that in his books... I believe it has something to do with "Nicotiana", which is explained in " A Tolkien Bestiary" by David Day.

The Balrog was awesome, and I loved the scenery! btw, did anyone clap and cheer at the end of the final fight scene?

Yes the whole theatre clapped when Aragorn cut off the Uruk-hai cheiftain's arm and head.

Me too! smiley - biggrin

Anyone think the actors will win various awards?

I think that's very likely...smiley - ok

I hope so.. and the character who (before seeing the movie) I thought would be least likely to win, Boromir, probably deserves it most!

i reckon the whole film shud win an award! smiley - ok

was gud. i dint like ALL the changes. & i wasnt too keen on how they did the elves. jus dint seem right, tho thats probably a personal thing.
balrog was excellent. & nearly cried at the end when frodo & sam were in the boat!

The film, yes great but I have one gripe. Legolas. In the past week I have recieved 3 offers of marriage if I look anything like him and inumerable talks on why he is so fantastic. I am coming to the end of my tether as noq a (male) friend of mine now admires him for his machoness. He is one of those things that I wish could be consigned to the eternal dustbin of being uninvented.

Not wonderful.

His part was strengthened a lot in the movie, and I have gotten much the same reaction from my friends...
Only most of them never picked out his name smiley - smiley He's just "that guy with the bow and pointy ears" smiley - biggrin

The minimal use of characters names has been pointed out elsewhere. By contrast, Gimli managed to cry very effectively without seeming girly. In fact, they did a lot of the hugging/kissing between men and it all came off as not at all gay. I'm impressed!

The acting was superb smiley - smiley The tale may have been twisted around a bit, but the acting and the awesome scenery more than made up for it!

The scenery was incredible imppressive I must admit, the bit with the 2 huge stone Kings and the dwarf halls were of particular note.

i dint like the way the elves in general were done.

i think the halls of Khazad-dum couldve been done better 2 b honest. i visualised it more open & more like a hall than a room full of pillas!

I do think the elves were done poorly... but that is probably because of what PJ was forced to leave out. The most elvish parts of Rivendell, the fireside tales, were not to be found. And at Lothlorien, the singing and all around merriment of the elves was left out. And Galadriel.. oh my...

Galadriel was (intentionally) scary when she was offered the Ring, but it took a second time around before I could work out everything she was saying. That distorted voice was very impressive, and a stark contrast to the Bakshi version of the same scene.

I felt that the whole thing of the elves being double minded, high up, ornate, delicate and skilled was portrayed well without so mch background that it slowed downthe film. While it might have been beter to have seen some other scenes it could have ground, quite possibly the least action filled part of, the film into stagnation. I sat there for 3 hours + was entertained although i was numb from the waist down. Had it been 4 hours I might not have made it smiley - sleepy
