Ooops, meant to finish my thought before posting that.
There is nothing wrong with your favorite moment being one of your own moments, that's why you play. As author, I look at this differently, otherwise I'd have picked chasing the cat with my recharger, or pouring my soul out to Sarah.
Player of this calibre all deserve their own moments.
*takes , raises glass*
I salute you. Cheers!

*Pats -dragon on the cheeks.*
Come on now, Argent... it's okay. We're all out of character now.
*Waves a carrot from the buffet under her nose, hoping to revive her.*

Actually, Carmel's problem with humans represents the only time I had to tell off one of my Assistant GMs.
You treat the help well, you have to. If you reverse their desisions it hurts the game, defeats the purpose of getting GMs to help in the first place, and pisses people off so thet never work with you again. So if an AGM makes a ruling while you are busy and you disagree with it you still back them up unless that wrecks the game.
I had to pull a reverse on an AGM one night when Argent was in the game. The bit about humans always kill dragons is just the character's misconception, I figure fairie dragons would use humans as their Boogymen. But my assistant decided that this meant that humans are compelled to kill dragons. Argent shape changed into a dragon, and the AGM started ordering players to attack! This included characters like Sarah, who would be more likely to feed the dragon than hurt it.
I had to reverse this. "Play your hearts, intereact with the dragon anyway that makes sense to you!" All was well.
Except the AGM took it personally and was furious. Apparently, I was deliberately trying to make a fool of him.
You can't please everyone.

I was wondering how this works in RL. Are all the players in one large room? I can see why you need AGMs, how else would you keep track of everything?

/* Busily studies Sarah's log. */
My favorite moment was Volkert gutting himself - that was truly brilliant! If I had kept playing Volkert I never would have come even close to something like that.
My favorite thing to do as the ghost was to pat Lizzie on the head while mumbling something like "Shweet lil' girl, shmellsh like a cat". It was frustrating playing the ghost, since I could only interact in very limited ways. I still got my shot in at the Kraken though.

*Hugs d'E*
I was going to bring up that "smells like a cat" thing. I just got done reading the high in the rigging thread. You mentioned it up there, too.
After the Kracken attack, I was feeling pretty gnarly. I never did get a chance to freshen up.
*Decides to catch up with the "on Deck" thread, sees 800 odd posts, faints.*

There are really 800 on deck? I think 400 of them must be the battle with the Kraken.
And of course I did not know that the cat smelled of 3-in-1 oil.

One big room, Witty, with other rooms or dividers to represent other rooms. I've had to bend Euclidian space to fit the game into a few venues. "OK, the bedroom at the top of the stairs is the captain's cabin. Those stairs going up actually are going down. Oh, and this right angle bend in the hall doesn't exist, the hall is straight, but this represents how you can't see the bow around the Fo'c'sle..."
So groupes use pretty eleborate set dressing, painted flats and all. That's a little beyond me.

I can see how that could really help people not used to pen and paper gaming. In my Shadowrun and D&D group we use very little in the way of visual props. This actually helps me create the picture better in my mind. If the battle gets too complex for that then we will draw it all up on a whiteboard and play it that way. We also are very free form till the battle gets started.
This way I got to envision it *all* and I loved it. The Kraken battle was hard, but we did it fairly good. It also let me do things to let my true nature out in the open. This was very good as I got to play the bit of the storyteller. The only real trouble I had was when I would skim the thread before posting and finding myself trying to eat in the galley rather than the mess. All in all I would call the game a success for an experiment. We can discuss the pros and cons of this.
Hey Mac, I bet we get the record for the longest playing of the MC right?
Post Game Party!
Mac (having trouble typing with a pug dog in his lap) Posted Nov 13, 2001
Longest by a big-honkin' margin! It's 4 hours real-time, no breaks. There was a group in South Africa that rented a tall ship for their run (How Cool Is That!!!) but even they were only out for a day, and I think they only spent the usual 4 hours playing.

I could go into the difference between Table Gaming and Live Action, but that's outside the scope of this party . But I will point out that the main difference is not that players are up walking around. The difference is the focus - at the table its a mostly cooperative party vs. the GMs NPCs; in Live Action it's player vs. player with the GM adjudicating, but trying to stay out of the way. Few games of D&D would have both Gilling and Uli.

yeah, thats true about D&D, but whats really interesting is me and my buddies have started planting evil people in the groups that work in conjunction with the NPCs and corordinate ambushes et cetera. While the most of us are attempting to save the world or the whatever the quest may be, that mole(s) is trying to kill off the group. Interesting stuff it is! I'll have to get into this live action stuff though, sounds impressive to me!

While I agree that the scope of this party is to, well, party; I'd like to have a discussion about the differences between LARPs pen & paper RPGs and compy RPGs.
Now on to the drinking! Ahhhh, that hit the spot.

Mac mentioned the Cat's assessment program. For those who haven't gone to see the .pdf file, here is the text of it:
----------------------------
ASSESSMENT PROGRAM
Remote Recording Unit 2BRN2B is charged with assessing the humans of the planet Earth.
1) Are humans sufficiently inventive as to eventually be able to join the Interstellar Community?
2) Are humans inventive in ways that might provide useful innovations for the Interstellar Community, specifically Procyon?
3) Do humans possess a violent or war-like disposition?
If the answer to the above is in the positive, might humans provide offsetting benefits to the Interstellar Community , specifically Procyon, that would justify permitting potentially hostile humans to reach space?
If the answer to the above is negative then human kind shall be assessed as a threat to be exterminated. Activate the orbiting destruct satellite, use the global signalling system to issue a warning that any visitors from the Interstellar Community must leave immediately, begin the 15 minute count-down, and destroy the planet.

So, sea, what does the cat think of us?
I would still love to do one of these live action some day. I've thought about picking up Rules To Live By and working on one of my own, but haven't made up my mind to yet...
Did the group in South Africa who rented the boat send you any pictures, Mac? Those would be spectacular, I bet!
My favorite D&D character was an anti-paladin. I only got to play her in one game, but was able to start a plague that ravaged the countryside in that session. The GM never ran that game again, for some reason.
