That was quick for a conversation that hasn't been posted on since June...

Well, the Southeast tends to be a little slow this time of year.

Yeah. It's been too hot here lately to move quickly. The rain the last few days has cooled things off though.

We're just really happy here to be dodging Hurricane Fabian. We never would have lived that down.
Key West has a reputation for being struck by hurricanes whose names can only be pronounced when one is intoxicated, i.e.: Georges, which comes out like "zhorgezzzz".

Hopefully, we only have to have one "French-sounding" hurricane every fifty years.

...glad it missed you Wonko,
It was heading straight for us at one point, i thought we might have a repeat of Andrew, with everyone saying it was going to veer North but instead just continuing Westward.
Welcome to the grope btw.

Wassup! I'm from NE Arkansas, but have escaped to Central Florida, so can I join in? I do have a few things to say about the page, so...
1.I'd just like to point out that Oklahoma is Mid-West, as they were never part of the Confederacy.
2.NORTH Carolina, well, I just object to the whole NORTH title being included in the South. Even if they are technically south of the Mason-Dixon. I just don't like the corrupting influence of the word NORTH when used for properly Southern folks.

You have been added to the list.
Where in Northeast Arkansas? I travel through there from timt-to-time to go see my mother in Harrison.

Just about at norteast as you can get without venturing into Missouri or drowning in the Mississippi. A horrible little town called Blytheville (don't pronounce the -the- part, just 'Bly-ville' to the natives). The armpit of the south, or Bly-vegas (where life is a crap shoot) as those I know there call it. I really am glad to be free of that place. A good friend of mine teaches English in Rivercrest, just outside of Oceola, a lost cause if you ask me. A local Arkansas joke for you, why do they call Missouri the 'Show Me State'? Because you can't just tell 'em, you have to show 'em.
I'm told that there are parts of Arkansas that are actually beautiful, interesting, and a joy to be in, but I just don't believe those delusional souls.

It is a tad flat out there. I prefer to see a little terrain. Mountains, forests, etc. That's waht I like. Sort of like Northwest Arkansas.
