There is only one thing worse than being Gosho, and that is not being Gosho

I see that you list a bunch of Texas related entries on your page, and as I live in Austin I'd like to be considered for membership, although I figured TX to be more south central than south east. If I'm eligible, then sign me up please smiley - smiley

Don't worry about it. Austin may not be as "Southern" as Birmingham or Savannah, but it's a helluva lot closer than, say, Detroit.
Welcome aboard!

I think the idea is to include the states of the American South. I think that roughly includes all of the states that were in the confederacy or where more than a third of the population says "y'all."

we might even be able to expand it to include every state that has a Waffle House in it smiley - smiley

Where is that at? My mother lives in Harrison. Every once in a while, I like to take a long weekend, and visit. I was always very fond of Arkansas.

You're in the group.

It's two hrs east of Harrison. Close enough I go canoeing and camping there at Ponca, on the buffalo national river, a couple of times a year. Pocahontas Is 48 miles north of Jonesboro. It's pretty here, my town lies directly on the topographical line between the Misissippi river valley and the Ozarks , along the Black river.
The local population is about 6,900. There are 5 factories, 3 grocery stores, a Walmart Super Centre, 3 feed and farm stores, and a Tobacco discount store. Rice, Soybeans, and Cattle are the major crops. It's a dry county so there is nothing to do here for fun, unless your into Meth an Weed. You can Hunt and Fish, but I don't recomend it. Arkansas leads the US in accidental death by fire arms. My truck took a bullet last winter during muzzle loading season, and it's White. The guy said it move like a deer. At least we are number one in somthing.

Heh. Not only does Fort Worth have at least TWO Waffle Houses (count 'em!) but they have TWO Ol' South Pancake Houses. I think that qualifies Fort Worth as 'southern.'

Sign me up. Hey, what the heck. I live in Fort Worth, Texas, and work at the Fort Worth Star-Telegram as a designer.

I'm curious when the next Southern round-up will be; any ideas? I know a great pub down the street...

Okay, you're in. I noticed that you already have an aritcle listed here.

The next meet will be something informal at DragonCon in Atlanta. My wife is dragging me to the convention at the end of the month. I reckon there will be several members there.

yeah, it is a little odd, but you'll also notice that nobody seems interested enough in Oklahoma to write even one article about it. Poor b****rs.

ANYWAY...

(sarcasm)
Two-bit, I'm, so sure that your wife will be *dragging* you, no doubt kicking and screaming, to DragonCon. You seem so upset by the idea.

The sarcasm thing doesn't work right unless you use the <> brackets. Don't you know anything about GuideML? :-) Anyway, I'm sketching out the DragonCon meet here: http://www.bbc.co.uk/h2g2/guide/F71235?thread=135870&post=1233666#p1233666

Ok Two-Bit here I are.

However, I no longer live in the south, I live in Phx, AZ. I wonder if that changes things. I was born in Chattanooga, and raised in north Alabama, (Huntsville-Scottsboro area).

Let me know where I'm supposed to go....perhaps an honoree.

Once a southerner always a southerner.

welcome to the group, daisylou!
it's always good to see a new face

oh, and, um, why oh why did you need to wait for you clothes to dry, Two-Bit? Please tell me it doesn't have anything to do with DragonCon shenannigans, 'cause then I'd be jealous.
