I believe it was mentioned several times that posting smileys etc, will simply fill up the thread making it hard for DB users to access it, aswell as wasting time.
I don't know about plain skin users, but there isn't actually a need to bookmark conversations now, as the new conversation display for PC users tells you if there is new posts since you last read and will take you to the point you left the thread when you click on new posts.
Perhaps someone can tell me if this is true with DB users too?

I said it had been mentioned - can't help with the implementation of it tho
It would probably help everybody if we could remain on topic - that way we can see, react and respond to points more easily.
Please?

Mort...
Nope... Digibox Users do not have this facility while in Plain Skin unfortunately...
Everyone...
Not sure how not replying to some posts but replying to others can be seen as ignoring on purpose specific points...
I, myself, have still to comment on some points made many days ago, i will eventually do so [especially as some are in a reply to a posting i've made a while ago and it appears from those comments that it didn't come out the way i intended ]...
The fact that i replied to/challenged/contradicted some newer posts instead of older ones is _only_ coincidental... and nothing personal there...
I might choose to comment on statements as a priority instead of opinions... that's my choice and i will keep to it... and there is nothing sinister there either... In a debate people rarely comment on every point made during the discussion especially if there are quite a lot to go through... but they do eventually if the points which have been overlooked are being made again...
The off-topic issue...
Hmmmm... I'd rather keep my opinion for myself there as it's not like it was something which hasn't happened before earlier in this thread... but yep, if everyone [including myself] tried to keep to the subject[s] related to this thread that would be great...
Of course, we may have different ideas of what are the subjects related/relevant to this thread and which ones are not... but that's another story...
Talk soon everyone...

well if vamp can go thru the backlog n reply to the few hundred posts that were posted in her absence im sure its easier for those on pc......fair enuff she hasnt commented on all but shes doin well...
n no im not sayin u cant comment on my stuff,,,,,otherwise we wouldnt have a debate lol
im sayin y just point out my mistakes n stuff when others r ignored i.e the me goin off topic subject....mines more worthwhile than the dr who debate dont u think?
anyway...rather than keep this up lets do what we tried to say months back n focus on topic.....(well i will if every1 else will )

Localised Girl...
I will try to comment on some more stuff later on when i'm back online... having been around 5 days without being able to post i do agree that Insomniac Vampire has done well responding to so many posts already...
Ref: the Dr Who bit... yep that was definitely off topic... but as i have seen that kind of things happening in many h2g2 threads [including the <./>AskH2G2</.> ones] i haven't given it much thought... But, as that adds more unnecessairy posts in a thread which is getting quite long already and will make eventually the access to it difficult to Digibox Users i do agree that we [a non-specific "we" here] should try to restrain ourselves from posting this kind of messages...
The Digiboxes seem to be better coping with very long threads now, but better safe than sorry...
The use of smileys can be a problem at times as well, but as long as we don't put too many in our postings it should be alright... I will try myself to cut down on their use in my postings but, it has become a second nature now and i can understand that it might be the same for others... but, as i said, as long as they're not overused it should be alright...
Anyway got to go offline... Talk soon everyone...

Locketrobin
please dont not use caps it is considerd shouting on site and the internet
The reason some people book mark is becouse they are on a digi box this mean that if you go out/go to work come back and check a thread like this one you have to read from the last place you wrote a message and also helps you remember where you have read up to so you dont have to read it all again to find where you left off before so there not pointless they do have a very good meaning behind them
the softwere for didgy box users has also been updated now so people can acess a lot the box might have struggled with before
I think the main thing we should be doing tho is keeping on track with the convosation at hand more than any thing
