Welcome to the fold! Would you like a title? We have nothing as simple as Museships of Angelic equivelants going on here. Me's'a Warlord. We already have A Grand Vizier, A Minister of Defence (and Occasional Offence), A High Priestess, A Master-at-Arms: Thingite Armouries, A Captain of the Praetorian Guard and one Camp Follower.

So feel free to suggest whatever you feel fits your role and mood in the Thingite Clan Hall of Thingism (AKA: "The Second Most Popular Up-Rising on H2G2" (TM) )

Lessee. It'd have to be something awfully silly.... I think it's such an important decision that I'd better take it under advisement. smiley - winkeye

BTW, every month at work, we get a new calendar that tells when people are off, their hours, etc. Since it's HTML, this month I changed all the days of the week to their proper names, and have this hanging on the wall of my cubicle. A co-worker borrows it every month and copies it, because she doesn't want to be bothered finding the file and printing it out herself. It's now the 10th, and she still hasn't noticed that the days of the week have been changed! Perhaps we can do this everywhere, and people will start using the proper names through our subliminal suggestion ... Bwahahahahaha! smiley - monster

I was sitting at dinner with some friends one of who was comlaining about a Something not working. I say "a Something" because whatever the malfunctioning item was he replaced it with one of those silly pseudonymes: "Thingymagummy" and "Whatsit" or in this case "DOOBRY". I had never heard this before and i had to ask him to repeat what he had said. That "The doobry had blown uop and it was going to cost him X? to fix." This setteled to the back of my mind and there it lay. Before I continue, may I introduce a further little back-story: Having had full endorsement from other Thingites to go about re-naming Monday "Sodit" (to justly reflect the uneasy sense of rotten inevitability that most Mondays seem to start with) we also began looking at the weekend - then as yet unchanged - to reflect the day's character in a similar fashion. Names briefly flirted with included *Sigh* = Saturday (Ahhh. Kick back and relax , and Layin = Sunday (the Layin before the Sodit) but these were all ultimately rejected. And so to return to the matter in hand: from whence Doobry? I remembered this word from the prior conversation at dinner and was chatting with another friend at uni about including this one the list of new week names and inevitably he asked about Sunday what would work as an antithesis to Doobry: Well, Dontbry - obviously! :-D And that's it. :-) You're welcome to join in the fun - which is currently ongoing 'neath the collapsed remains of the Strand underpass in London in the No, no, no forum http://www.bbc.co.uk/h2g2/guide/F63252?thread=100492&skip=0&show=20 (We trying to storm the Towers to issue our demands to TPTB.) We like to go in for grandiose titlage here: I'm a Warlord we currently hold on our roster one Grand Vizier, A Captain of the Praetorian guards, A Minister of Defencee (and occasional Offence), a Master-at-Arms, one High Priestess, a (Temporary) commander of the Suicide Squad and one Camp Follower . I taking suggestions for new titles if you want to match wits with those fine examples. ;-) Clive :-) (Warlord of Clan Thing)

M'Alice, Keeper of the Sacred Ale!

Happy Thing! I'm using the new names of the days around everyone I know in an attempt to get them to use them too. People expect this sort of thing from me.

Thank you for letting me join your elite tribe! Might I suggest "Keeper of the Sacred Ale" as my title? Unless anyone else can think of something better, that is.

That's very impressive! I'm still trying to think of one.

Hm.... Let's see: ooh, can I be the Bearer of Pennants?

That's not very silly, but it's the best I can do. smiley - tongueout

Greetings, Suz,
Pleased to meet you, I'm the Minister of Defence (and Occasional Offence), which *should* mean I'm in charge of Shea! No doubt the Warlord or Grand Vizier will join us soon, and allocate you an official position. In the meantime, why not pop along and grab a spork from Sir Loin.
