Affy - using echo-location is a brilliant idea! You could direct the rest of us through the maze. But you're right about needing to know where the exit is first. Now how, in Akmuht's name, are we going to figure that out?

* the replacement penguin finally finds his way safely back to the other heroes *
[Replacement Penguin] I'm wondering if it might not be possible to... what the... whoa!
* he appears to stretch, twist into a rather confusing shape, and then vanishes with a 'pop' *

It's Darmani, not Darman, you noron!!
[Darmani] Well, BBW, we still might be able to create a noticeable path.
[He starts rolling towards the (fake) exit, smashing everything in his path, until he crashes into the wall]
[Darmani] D'OH!

Okay, that's it. Garius, hold my stuff.
*Affy hands everything that he isn't wearing and isn't in his pockets to GL, after memorizing the Fweep spell. After composing himself for this always somewhat traumatic spell, he incants*
Fweep.
*Affy's form quickly alters to that of a giant vampire bat, hovering above the ground*
*Affy begins zipping around the room, listening to the lay of the land, and figuring out where all the paths are, how large all of the filing cabinets, coffee cups, etc. are, and memorizing the location of everything. There is no visible exit. He lands, and begins waiting for the effects of the spell to wear off*
*Ten points to the person who can point out the extremely obscure sci-fi reference in this post*

[Darmani] ... ouch ...
[Navi] [incomprehensible]
[Darmani] Fine, fine. [turns back into Link and heads back to the Good Guys]

What, no guesses? Not even an "I don't know" about the extremely obscure sci-fi reference? I'll give you a hint: the series it came from ended this month.

[YK] [correcting him] The Galaxy.

You know, UH, you're free to do stuff as well. It's not like the plot is set in stone beforehand, or anything.
Oh, and just for the reference, when I was speaking using telepathy, I used the <> brackets instead of my usual {}. The <> brackets were used in the now-ended young adult book series Animorphs whenever the Animorphs had to talk to each other while in the form of an animal. Okay, I know it was too vague this time, I'll really try and get something better next.
*Affy reverts back to normal, casts Fweep again, and changes back into a bat*

*A loud crash is heard as the ISO monster trips over an unseen power cable. Several curses are heard, followed by the sounds of someone putting their hand in a cold cup of coffee, followed by more curses, followed by a petulant "Okay, then. I'll just sit here."
GL suppresses a laugh as he follows Affy's directions to thread his way through the maze. The others follow in single file.*
Just tell me when we get to the console, or if BBW tries anything.

*BBW frowns as he sees the heros making their way towards the console. He runs over and starts pushing things into their path. He throws a cold cup of coffee in GL's face. GL sputters and curses, to BBW's great delight. GL fires his neural stunner in the general direction of the chuckles and narrowly misses BBW. BBW becomes more sober and continues trying to impede the heros progress by pushing equipment into the aisle they are traveling down.
BBW has a sudden idea and runs ahead of the heroes. He lifts one of the floor panels to produce a hole about 1 feet deep (this is a computer room with a false floor for the wiring. The lead hero should drop into the hole in a post or two, and hopefully twist an ankle, or something worse.*

* a penguin appears. It is the original penguin, now restored to health. He looks around and tries to walk towards the heroes *
[Penguin] Ouch! What's this? Findante primerus, findante semerus!
* the hologram shimmers slightly, enough to show the penguin what he bumped into before it restores *
[Penguin] Oh my, that's fiendish.
* he gets out a bag of herring and starts throwing them around to locate the clear paths until he catches up with the others *

We're in a maze of office junk, with a holographic image of a /different/ maze of office junk, and Affy's turned into a bat so he can use echolocation to find the real maze, and now we're following him.
