I met the director and producer last night, at the launch party for Nick Webb's new biography of Douglas. They weren't giving much away, but they were very enthusiastic, and very much fans themselves.

Has anyone else's opinion of Disney actually making this a good movie improved after seeing Pirates of the Carribean?
Its a brilliant film, and I had to have a winch my jaw back up to my mouth when I heard that Disney had been behind it...
I have to admit I was less than optimistic about Disney doing it initially, but if the hammer and tongues company involved are up to scratch this could be good after all. But the I like the two Lord of the Rings films so far (with the second one being better), so base your judgement on that

Yes, of course, we all know that New Line Cinima is a subsidury of Disney.

Argon0 (50 and feeling it - back for a bit) Posted Oct 9, 2003
Pirates of the Caribbean is SUCH a rip off of a 2000AD story called the RED SEAS, from a few years back... and UNDERWORLD seems to rip off another 2000AD story - whose title I just can't remember....
Where is this rumour that the rubber faced loon is to play Arthur from!!
No, No and Thrice NAY!!

The producers of Underworld where sued for copywrite infringelments by WhiteWolf, I am not sure about 2000AD.

OK, so they've got the green light, but the important thing is still whether the awful Jim Carrey is still in it! We want to know whether Arthur Dent will have a rubber face!

Robin Williams might be a bit old for my imagination of Ford.
how about a brit actor, they have good brit accents.
Jude Law is skinny enough. The question should really be, whose going to look good in a stripey blazer?
What about thingy who was in Withnail and I . Nicely British and ironic and ought to stop doing those nasty Argos catalogue ads.
On the subject there's a reckless rumour of Eddie Izzard as Doctor Who

That's like asking Lee Evans to play Kennedy.

There hasn't even been a cast roster yet, no-one is even rumored to be looking for a cast yet, however on a diffrent note I rekon the star of Jhonthon Creek whould make such a good Dr. Who its not funny, however one wounders what happend to the one that stared in the crappy telemovie.

Argon0 (50 and feeling it - back for a bit) Posted Oct 10, 2003
Obviously that happened in another continuum...
Alan Davis as Dr. Who - spooky....
I was just thinking he'd make a good either Slarty or (at a bit of a push, and with a proper haircut) Arthur...

fords - number 1 all over heaven Posted Oct 10, 2003
He'd also make a good Ford, but I stand by my view that Rhys Ifans would be great - he's got the (strange to Americans) accent, an unconventional look and he's not a bad actor either
In response to the earlier post too, Tom Baker is championing Eddie Izzard as the Doctor. Seeing as Tom Baker is indeed The Man, his thoughts are fine by me

I'm still voting for John Cleese as Max Quordlepleen...

But John isn't nearly slimey enough for that - he would steal the show though....
Oddly since we posted about Alan Davis for Dr. Who William Hill have closed the books on Alan being the next Dr.....
