We all do DD ...... course turning the wonderful completeness and efficiency of our magnificent filing system into something that could seriously damage STUMPED would make us appreciate you even more than we do already
WANTED: NEW HEROS. Must have licence. SuperPowers optional.
David B - Singing Librarian Owl Posted Jun 15, 2004
Well, short of dropping it on their heads, I can't think of anything. And that would mean all the files getting mixed up again...
WANTED: NEW HEROS. Must have licence. SuperPowers optional.
The Lost Philosopher: A Rebel Without a Clue Posted Jun 15, 2004
Okay...
I meant a hero with dark motivations and a lost past whom the audiences love, because he goes about his goodly deeds in a decidedly evilish way. His conscience is too developed, however, for him to truly be a villan. He is just a dark, somewhat reluctant hero.
[See Batman, Spiderman (at first), Spawn, Han Solo, erm...]
[There's tons of em', really]

Wotsisface the vampire from that Buffy spin-off series?
I wonder if we have any anti-heroes already. You could probably captain a special CHOPPERS sub-division...
Mr B, is there anything in the files on this?
WANTED: NEW HEROS. Must have licence. SuperPowers optional.
David B - Singing Librarian Owl Posted Jun 16, 2004
*flips through filing cabinet to 'Anti-heroes'*
Hmm, now, Mystrunner could certainly qualify, but we haven't seen him for a while.

*points finger at Mr B*
Ahah ! Caught you out !! Shouldn't the file be Heroes: (Anti-) ?
WANTED: NEW HEROS. Must have licence. SuperPowers optional.
David B - Singing Librarian Owl Posted Jun 16, 2004
Certainly not! Due to the nebulous nature of the anti-hero concept, whcih can veer from heroic or villainous identification, it is essential to keep anti-heroes in a specific file (although cross-referenced from both Heroes: Grim 'n' Gritty and Villains: Noble/Well-Intentioned.
So there

Vestboy Posted Jun 16, 2004
Ok! So our next task is to suggest heroes and work out where they should be filed in the newly created filing system.
Should we start in alphabetical order?
A... a... a... yeah, Captain America! Or is he a C?

The Lost Philosopher: A Rebel Without a Clue Posted Jun 16, 2004
Ok, so, am I in?

Vestboy Posted Jun 17, 2004
But isn't America his surname?
Would you put Captain Mainwaring (Dad's Army) under C?
Or Captain Birdseye? - Aha! Another B other than Batman!
Or Captain Corelli, Oh yeah, you would with that one.
WANTED: NEW HEROS. Must have licence. SuperPowers optional.
David B - Singing Librarian Owl Posted Jun 17, 2004
Captain America is his name, whereas with Captain Mainwaring, Captain is his title.

If I might interject ?
I'd like to know now that Lost Philosopher has joined us whether the file is Lost: (Philosophers), Lost Philosopher, Hero: Lost Philosopher or Hero: Philosopher (Lost) ?
On the title / name thing I would be interested whether in the case of Major Major from Catch 22 whether he would be categorised as Major: Major or Major: Major ?

David B - Singing Librarian Owl Posted Jun 17, 2004
I think I can cope, as long as there aren't any heroes called 'The'...
Heroes: CHOPPERS Members: Lost Philosopher
If that's alright with everyone of course
WANTED: NEW HEROS. Must have licence. SuperPowers optional.
Red (and a bit grey) Dog Posted Jun 17, 2004
Works for me as long as we're sure that the "Lost" bit is permanent rather than a temporary state of affairs otherwise I'd have to insist that we go with Heroes: CHOPPERS Members: Philosopher (Lost/Mislaid/Found)
Key: Complain about this post
