Don't tell them you're a bounty hunter at all. Then when they've got used to you being there, say something like
*creeps up behind ______ and pulls a sack over his head, completely immobilising and disorientating him*

It's all about subtlety and subterfuge. You get their trust, then you betray it in a spectacular fashion - in VR, of course.
