Heyup Taff.
I'm here too. Been busy setting up this new hootoo project *nods up at name* U14992038
Plug, shameless plug.
Of course today this has been hindered by the fact that I am covered in sour milk. I finally broke and upped the Comet's bottled milk allowance after a week of MiL going, Is she thin? She looks thin. I think she's thin. Look, she's hungry and thin. Hungry. Thin. Hungry. Thin. And since this is a sensitive issue foolishly I didn't take he to be weighed this week when I had the op so I could say, Ha! You are wrong! She has rather gotten to me. Blasted woman. She is Father Ted's housekeeper personified, my mother in law.
Never come to the house when she is in residence and you are on a diet. It will be all tea, have some tea, are you sure you won't have tea? And another cup? And what about this five course meal? Aggressive hospitality run wild. She also won;t believe you if you say you don;t like tea, or are vegetarian and so can't eat salami.

Ho yes. I am living that dream, Taff. Well, without Father Jack. B and I take it in turns to be Ted and whatsit the young dim one.

Oh! A gardening question. We planted some bulbs the other day and I think something's been digging them up. Could it be squirrels? It could be my son, of course, but he was only out there for a few minutes yesterday, and that was with his Granny (the other one).

Ben saw badgers dig up her bulbs once, but I understand you live an apartment in London, so maybe that's less likely.

It's probably squirrels, Sol, though some birds will also have a go.
If you've any chicken wire, that usually foils them. Plant the bulbs a wee bit deeper than usual, stick a bit of chicken wire over them and back-fill with the soil.
I should be planting bulbs today but have too many other things on the go - including very long overdue cleaning of the bathroom and bed-making before guests arrive.

Congratulations, Bea.
Irv, most dogs grow out of the rock-chewing thing. In the meantime you have to be careful they don't swallow them. It's best to tempt them with sticks or chew toys whenever you see them go for the rocks.

The badgers only went for the tulips bulbs, they snapped off the flowers at the base of the stalk and peeled the papery bits off the bulbs. Bustards.

dE (That feel's weird without the apostrophe), the rocks my chews are mostly the size of tennis balls, so I don't worry too much that she'll swallow them.
I won't be doing NaJoPoMo, I don't think, as I'm doing NaNoWriMo for the second year running. But who knows, maybe more writing = more writing, and I'll get some posts up. I did just purge my journal. None of it seemed relevant anymore.
Bulbs? Is it that time? Crud. S is going away for the weekend, and I daren't plant bulbs without her. Or buy bulbs without her. It'd be tantamount to infidelity. Maybe she'll get back tomorrow in time for some shopping at the plant nursery. It'll cheer her up after her trip this weekend. (She's going to see a friend who is dying in a hospital. He may not even be awake by the time she gets there).

It sounds like a planet from some Heinlein or Asimov novel.

Gretna always makes me think of the Leo sayer song moonlighting, which is about a young couple from London running away to get married. You never quite find out if they do it or not, but the last line of the final verse is "We're ten miles to Gretna, they're 300 behind"

If the salon is going to be this busy, we need to discuss whether to lengthen the conversations.
I'm late getting here; just found out that the water was going to be turned off, so I had to make sure that dishes were washed, cat's water replenished and so forth, to get us all through what might be the whole day.
