Pumpkin Festival this weekend where I live (Keene, NH). Going to be a *lot* of pumpkins all around here for a few days.

I feel as if I've never signed out.

The autumn colors where you live, Yar, are gorgeous. I've been in that area of the country a couple of times.

Pumpkins... oddly enough, I rarely see pumpkins around in this neck of the woods, except possibly as autumn decorations in floral shops - oh, and around Halloween, which has become quite popular over here. Still, there are people who think of it as an abomination, probably because we've never had (as far as I know, that is) anything similar to Samhain. So they tend to think it's a modern invention, not realising that All Saints' Day and All Hallows' Eve were invented by the church to 'cover up' the heathen rituals - as so often before...

Oh, and now I've stumbled over a game named 'Hallowed Legends: Samhain' while googling for details...

My smiley - dog seems to like chewing on rocks as much as she likes her other chew toys. Anybody know if I should stop this behavior, or whether it's even worth it to try?

S and I have one pumpkin that we obtained through the CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) that we joined. We'll have to get another if we're to do jack-o-lanterns.

There's some fall foliage here, but nothing too spectacular. We had the first snow of the season the first week of this month.

You've had snow already! We're just approaching freezing weather, and the Big Winds are stripping the trees as fast as they turn. Mule deer were in my back yard tonight.

My parents had a doberman that chewed rocks. I thought it was stupidity, but maybe it's mineral deficiency.

Speaking of carving pumpkins, I think Clive has done some nice ones that have been featured in smiley - thepost *wanders off to leaf through old issues*

We had our first snow about 3 weeks ago. Didn't stick at my house but still some on the mountain peaks.

I think Clive mentioned it somewhere, sometime, but the only mention I can find while leafing through smiley - thepost Back Issues A728732 is where he gets the designs from... I imagine a scalpel might work.

Well, um, Idle, we've had snow, but it didn't stay around long. Even the Peaks, where it stayed for a week or so, have melted now. The seasons seem to be quite confused here.

But, suffice to say, the heater's on.

Our window is open during the night and quickly closed in the morning, our heater is on in the morning, and the AC is still on occasionally in the afternoon.

Caught myself once again *very nearly* typing "bbc" into the URL-bar to try to get here, whoops!

Lil: Yeah, the leaves are only starting to turn gorgeous, but there's certainly something to be said for seeing the process. The downside to living in the specific place that I do is that I'm right above Central Square, with everything that implies, but I'm managing.

My brain is full of Batman music right now, because I've been playing Batman: Arkham Asylum a lot over the course of the past few days.
