Mr. Dreadful - But really I'm not actually your friend, but I am... Posted Aug 17, 2005
Argh! Sodding viruses... the virus which everyone is reporting as having hit US firms (http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/technology/4159002.stm) and has only struck a "small number" of people in the Financial Times over here actually crippled the Royal Mail Group, Barclays and Nationwide. I work for Royal Mail so I had seven kinds of sod all to do today, but we had to stay in the office just in case it got sorted out.

Not only would there be no leftovers, Sporky, you never would have gotten a slice to begin with!
Mushrooms are a beautiful thing. *sigh*

You want to be careful, Hyp. Next thing you know you'll accidentally have coffee with the Smellfungus and discover what a nice funny person she is and how much she hates committee meetings and you will feel your whole world spin wildly. Happened to me. Girl at school I couldn't stand ended up a good friend. I couldn't stand her arrogance, hot temper, sarcasm and inability to shut the heck up. I ended up admiring her confidence, sense of justice, humour and chattiness. Admittedly she herself confessed she'd been a cow at 16 and had mellowed considerably by the time we were pals at 18. Is your smellfungus mellowing?
Sympathy to Hati for poorly head.
Pizza. Now there's an idea. How do I convince S takeaway is a very good idea despit ethe fact the fridge is full of all sorts of yummy things. That need to be cooked. Do you have any idea how much cooking I've been doing recently? Steak puddings, proper ragu, lasagne from scratch (yes I make my own pasta, Delia eat your chintz heart right out), curries from scratch including covering the kitchen with turmeric whicle making spice paste, ice-cream - well, anyway, I have absolutely had enough of cooking at the moment. And it's hot. trouble is, S will offer to cook, and so I still won't get pizza as we don't have the stuff to homemake it. *sigh*

Mr D, I have deep sympathy for the whole virus problems. Dad went to London today and I'm just waiting for him to get home and to start complaining about the whole Amazon deal and that the computers were b*ggered up so he couldn't sort it out and he's supposed to be organising the new postal launch and...etc etc...
*thick curtains, tea on stand-by and lots of quiet for Hati*

This getting enough sleep lark is great! Also the inflatable cushion I have bought for the car has arrived, and I had an assessment at work which means I get a posh chair with lumbar support in 6 weeks time.
The CDs I ordered from amazon.com using the re-posessed birthday vouchers arrived today, so I am looking forward to a couple of weeks enjoying new music.
Favourite quote of the day?
>> "squeezing Vetustodermis into the mollusca is a somewhat messy job."
Well, it would be, wouldn't it?
for Mr D and Hati with the sore heads.

Are we looking at the Church of the True Mushroom now? Please NO!
I like the fossil... Aliens?
Pizza: a light white bread dough for crust; Fresh Roma tomatoes (blended) for sauce; two and a half to three pounds of freshly grated Mozzarella and baby swiss; as much toppings as you like (no two people ever agrees on which toppings should be used); and finally about a quarter pound of freshly grated mizithra cheese.
I suggest at least an 18 inch pizza to start with.
Oh and Henry Weinard's root beer (Ok, I don't drink (we don't have a root beer smiley thing.)) to go along with it.

Henry Weinhardt's root beer is splendid stuff. And I agree, no more church sects for the time being.
Off to meet with the new chairman of the fort stanton commission, shortly.

Do you know, S came home with some extra shopping he'd nipped out for during his lunch hour, and OFFERED to make pizza tonight. Marital telepathy. Spooky.

3 pounds of cheese on one pizza! Can I come to your house for dinner, Cyde?

Congratulations on your impending Ambassadorship, Hyp
Can we add some Chaume to the cheeseboard? It smells but tastes - especially when eaten with Canteloupe. Don't ask me how we made that discovery unless you want a very long and boring story.

Got my final rebate check from the laptop today. Tomorrow, after meeting with my advisor, I go get the new motherboard for the desktop machine.

Let me guess...
"You've got Chaume on my canteloupe!" "You've got canteloupe on my Chaume!"
I think most cooking discoveries must have been made that way... I want to know how the miracle of mayonnaise came about. Who thought that whipping eggs and oil together would be a good idea?
Can't let the house distract me with its messiness... Must work on artwork... mutter, mutter...

I'm going to a jam-tasting session in a moment. My friends who live opposite me have a French friend staying with them, and she has brought five varieties of home-made jam with her. So I've been invited over to sample them all. My tastebuds say and and my good intentions say .

The Ambassdorial do might be difficult - at 11pm here before a day's work... I agree with B at the moment that sleep enough is good and needed.
A little bit of apology to the English here for tonights ... but only a little

Sleepy now, which is probably good. And I managed to find the house photos by wading through my temporary files. At least they are no longer full of the stepson's porn. But odd to see the ghosts of so many websites past.
Gnight all.
