>What are huckleberries?

I dunno, but since they always seem to come with Fins, I assume they are some sort of fish...

Off to London this weekend, with an old mate, for a mega blow-out 'hit the gay bars and see how many people we can pull/get slapped by' session.

Very sad news about Brother Roger.

Gooseberry jam was particularly good last night.

Speaking of berries - Ti, do you know what the English word for "salmbär" is?

I at least believe I remember that we had salbär-sylt [xyz berry jam] with the Saffron-pancakes we had on Gotland on our vacation smiley - drool

Salmbär are dewberries.

Titania (gone for lunch)

Yeah, what KerrAvon said - but I think that 'salmbär' is a dialectal(?) word specific for Gotland (Sweden's biggest island). We usually just call them 'blue raspberries'

Yes Hati, it is - not be confused with blackberries, though...

All our lot have has a crash-course in basic Swedish stuff like food and drink recently, after the company took over a Swedish firm. I've been supposed to be going over there for ages, but the schedule keeps getting ballsed-up.

STRANGEDUDE

....the sun has got it's hat on, hip, hip, hooray, the sun has got it's hat on and Strangely's out to play!
.
....well it's 78f today so I'm wearing my pink shirt and white shorts!, sounds silly, but pink is more of a sunshine colour to me....all new clothes today, no I am not rich, these are what I call throw away clothes, realy cheap, so doesn't matter if ruined by sun tan lotion
.
....and boy are they cheap, just £2.50 for white cotton shorts! Sure they won't last as long as more expensive ones, but I look for the right style, not the price....it wasn't easy for me to find these shorts in, a plain white cotton, with out patterns.....laters people, adios.
.
.....please remember American folks, shorts in England are not under garments but short trousers, LOL.

Shorts are the same thing here too, usually, unless someone says "wearing nothing but his shorts". Briefs are always underpants.

Huckleberries are very similar to blueberries. There are a lot of them in my area. They grow wild. They are smaller than tame blueberries and a little more tart. They make good jam. smiley - smiley

Asteroid Lil - Offstage Presence

*at the samovar, pouring a cup of tea* Is the foliage of the huckleberry like that of the blueberry?

The ceremony will be in the exhibition area this afternoon. I had thought of having it in the library, but it would be a bad precedent to allow refreshments in there.

And it's a rainy morning, and I need to get that chairman's signature.

Yes, Lil. Very similar foilage. I imagine they are the wild cultivar for the modern blueberry.

I'm starting to get a little nervous about the ceremony. I'm taking my clothes to work with me so I can change around 3:00. And I've packed a little something in the briefcase to steady my nerves.

Is that a smiley - stiffdrink in your briefcase? Careful you don't spill it.

The poor dogs. Every time I get them quieted down, another huge piece of my roof comes crashing to the ground and sets them off again. And I've got to go to work, and leave them here to deal with it alone. At least they don't seem scared, just confused and excited.
