Mr. Dreadful - But really I'm not actually your friend, but I am... Posted Mar 14, 2011
Last day in this job, following a very tiring but fun weekend.
Four hour jam session on Saturday followed by all-day LRPing on Sunday. The jam session would probably have been less tiring if I hadn't had to carry a 50+lb amp head with only one handle up some stairs and down a thin corridor packed with other people's gear.

Sheesh, will this winter never end? Hailstones this morning - hailstones! I ask you.
Fun-filled weekend. Spent Saturday afternoon making a banner to wave at Sunday's dancing contest, where my daughter and her bf came first in the senior pairs! So proud.
We went out to dinner to celebrate last night - daughter chose TGIF as she'd been there several times and liked it.
We sat at our table, a waiter came over, took our drinks order and left us to persue the food menu. 15 minutes later the drinks still hadn't arived and had to be chased up - meaning of course that we still hadn't ordered our food yet! In the end they didn't charge us for the drinks order that had gone AWOL, but I wouldn't be in a big hurry back. (not great for the old diet anyways)

Blimey, you slip off to the Trossachs for a week and have a go on the Falkirk Wheel and when you get back everybody has scarpered.

Landlady's daughter is going to clean the dust bunnies out of my desktop computer today, and not before time! I can hear the processor fan howl for air when I make it do something intensive.

Is this Pi Day? Has there been a google doodle?
I just put a gallery of photos up from my dad's service in World War II. i think they're historically interesting, whether you like wars or not. I designated it so friends of friends can share them, in case the veterans in the room want to point their friends to the pics.
Part 2 will be posted later -- Korea.

Springspringspring...although, it *might* be here, as there's dandelions all over the front lawn. Oh, and two budding banana bunched on the tree out back. Must've been all the rain.
I really liked the Swedish series, books and films, quite suspenseful. I don't think I'll see the Hollywood versions of the Millenium series. I'm deathly afraid they'll try to play up that violence, for titillation. They've done it before, in other projects.

Titania (gone for lunch) Posted Mar 14, 2011
One thing I *really* like about the Millenium films is how well Noomi Rapace fits the image I got when reading the books - most of the time, I end up being utterly disappointed if I first read the book/s and then watch the film.
Another exception is Ian McKellen as Gandalf.
And I love his 'Some people are gay. Get over it!'

I wonder why National Pie Week doesn't include 3.14

That's strange, as Noomi Rapace isn't at all like the image I had of her. She's too big, old and tough looking, I pictured someone younger looking who appears more vulnerable, but is surprisingly tough. As the title in English of the books is 'The Girl...' I pictured someone girl-like rather than tough woman like.
But that's the thing - everyone gets different ideas in their heads when reading books, so no-one will appeal to everyone equally.

The fact that everyone gets different mental images is what makes books so amazing, they're a little world for all of us to go into..
