Good Doctor Zomnker (This must be Tuesday," said GDZ to himself, sinking low over his Dr. Pepper, "I never could get the hang of Tuesdays.")

Morning all.

Now here's a thing. In 1992 a B24 liberator flew from the States to the UK, stopping at RAF Kinloss on the way south for an airshow. The Liberator had been destined for 120 Sqn during the war, but because of an incident she never made it. A 120 sqn crew went north to Keflavik to escort her on the leg to Kinloss. The Liberator's name was Diamond Lil. I understand she's still flying.

Good photo's Lil. The Nimrod was a bit more sophisticated inside. smiley - biggrin

Asteroid Lil - Offstage Presence

I've met Diamond Lil, and dad was allowed to go inside her and look around when she was at Kissimmee in FL. She's the one from MA. I also saw her overfly the Fantasy of Flight air museum in central FL, where the other B24 lives, and DLil did the wing waggle salute. Kermit Weeks, museum owner, had parked his B24 outside especially. Kermit's Lib is a bit more fragile, and he hasn't taken it up much ever since that incident at Lakeland when a little private plane barged in front of him during landing and forced him into an emergency climb.

I wondered what you'd think of the navigation setup photo. They weren't half stripped down to essentials!

The Korea photos are partly up, but not finished until I can get a neighbor to retrieve other archival boxes off a high shelf. As you'll see, I need help identifying some of the aircraft.

I survived the interview! I was worried at first that, as I was kept awake by the kids all yesterday and felt like nodding off all morning, it would end up a disaster. Such as:

Interviewer: Hello, why do you want this job?
Me: I don't - I just want to catch up with my sleep.
Interviewer: Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
Me: In bed, catching up with sleep.
Interviewer: What is it that particularly interested you in the role and what skills can you bring to it?
Me: smiley - zzzzzzz

Have you been to the Fantasy of Flight museum, then? If so, did you see ML814, the last flying Short Sunderland flying boat?

Yep, I survived. And as a reward I'm not on the train home, but am instead in the library for the next 10 minutes, killing time before going to the theatre to see Yes, Prime Minister (tickets to which Peregrin, who works there, got for me).

Not sure how well Yes, Prime Minister will work without Paul Eddington and Nigel Hawthorne. See A925904 for information on it.

There's a bar in Plymouth that's called Diamond Lil's
Ladies of a dubious reputation remove there clothes there for the entertainment of customers ....or so I have been led to believe. smiley - erm
Shorts built their sea planes just half a mile from my house. Not sure if ML814 was one of them though.

Titania (gone for lunch)

Another cold morning - it's currently below freezing point in the mornings and evenings, and barely above it in the middle of the day.

Sunny when I left home, but now clouding over - it'd better *not* start snowing *glares meaningly at weather gods*

IIEM, a Mog's special please!

Magwitch - My name is Mags and I am funky.

Well done on naming the aircraft, Eats. It's good to put a name to 'em.

Phase 2 of cleaning/clearing my son's bedroom today. Over the last two weeks *everything* was taken from the cupboards/shelves and under the bed. All his books (and he has a couple of hundred of those) were strewn around the room. He's got far too much stuff. The old airing cupboard is full to the top of board games, Lego, jigsaws...smiley - headhurts

Cover me I'm going in...
