Good morning all! I'm up! In the morning! Of my own accord!
This is wonderful, but I can't actually claim credit for it. It's the vagaries of my sleep nonpattern.
Is anyone else listening to the dramatisation of Guards, Guards on BBC radio? Death is being played by the actor who to my ears is, and always will be, the voice of Aslan. It's rather confusing, but in a good way.

And I am off to bed, having finished up the lecture on trans-Atlantic slavery and gotten most of the lecture on the Ottoman Empire done. Oh, joy.
Vanity Fair had an article on the Creation Museum in Kentucky. I'm fine with representing one's faith, but do most Christians really believe that dinosaurs died out in the Middle Ages, when they breathed fire and were hunted by knights? I find it difficult to believe, and I have plenty of friends who self identify themselves as evangelical Christians.

Morning all, IIEM, triple espresso please. Am at work after having about two hours of sleep last night. T'boy had his second asthma attack, scared the crap out of me. Surely the doctors will now get on and actually *diagnose* him with asthma? Poor lad was terrified and most of getting him better was calming him down. He was too frightened to go back to sleep for a couple of hours and I never really got back there - just laid and watched him breathe all night.

Oh Keli give him a gentle from me, asthma attacks are scary enough as an adult when you know what is happening and why.
The residual headache from the lamppost is all gone as has the migraine that was lurking in a very similar place before the lamppost and I met.
Been invited to a pirate themed beach party tonight for a friends birthday it should be a giggle, S and Dave will both be there in case it gets too much (it's in a nightclub with lots of people, lots of noise and lots of flashing lights) but i'm really hoping I don't have to run away, unless of course S and I decide that we enjoyed what happened last night (mutually consentual and first time for us both) and want to do it again.

MR, I can't speak for *most* evangelical Christians, but I can speak for this evangelical Christian and...no. No, no, no. No. How unutterably odd.

Kelli, that *is* scary, I've spent many a sleepless night watching my boys breathe when they've been poorly - I hope you can get a proper diagnosis soon.
I see a strange orange globe in the sky. Is it a UFO?
Glad you are not suffering any ill-effects from the lamp post incident mini and the party sounds like fun, enjoy!
How did I miss the Atelier party announcement? Will have to find a suitable costume...hmmm...the possiblities.

I've just noticed that I have a lump on my forehead. On reflection, I realise that it's from bashing my head against the tap last night when I was washing my facepaint off. Which goes alongside dream memory-scrambling as one of the sillier things I have done recently.

*That was entertaining, explaining to my boss of somewhat limited vocabulary what 'menstrual pains' menat on a sick form. I din't know it was possible for a fella to blush that hard *

for Kelli and t'Boy
Are you sure it is asthma proper, or might it be what's known as 'false croup' here? Is he coughing with a bit of a barking sound? Very tight airways and wheezy breathing?
My kids had false croup. It is really scary. However, usually, we could get relief from very cold air (sit by the open window with snow outside, wrap up in duvets and blankets to keep warm). I seem to remember that prescription cough syrup with ephedrine would help, but need to check that. One time, I had to take Son to hospital, and got bronchodilators. And it goes away with age. It usually came a few days after a cold, when you were sort of thinking they'd be fine and go back to day care.

I know we've moved to the new conversation, but I wanted to pop my own in for Kelli - I sometimes suffer from allergic reactions that go straight to my throat and close it up. Anti-histamines could help if you're in a tight spot and can't get to a doctor.
And now on to the the new thread...

Sorry for skipping the backlog again - three days off and a vacation besides adds up to a lot of posts...
I chunked a bit of money at Mediciences sans frontieres... Red Cross is good too.
Made a red sauce with italian sausage, anchovy, red wine and rosemary last night. Whoo-hoo! Boy, that was good. Tonight, I think we'll take the red sauce and whip up some fried chicken cutlets with mozzarella on top on pasta.
It's rather a problem, knowing how to cook. You end up with a restaurant-quality meal every night, which doesn't really work for the waistline.
I looked in the cabinet the other day and found at least ten Hamburger Helper dinners. We just don't eat them any more, so I guess I should stop buying them!

Evening Folks!!!
A lot of the local shops, and the stalls in the market in town are collecting for Haiti...
I've been doing a lot of 'keep the change' stuff.....
Amazing that they are still pulling people out alive!!!!!!
It makes me thank God that the UK is not near a geological fault line..............
