Well done, Marv!
I tried to post a similar message last night, but the internets must have eaten it. Odd.
Our book drop box was a much happier sight than Hyp's this morning. Someone had left a box of chocolates in it, with a note thanking library staff for all their work and support. Aww.

Oops. Just seen where last night's message went. Feeling very silly now...

Well done Marv. Here's hoping it will work out ok for you.
And I do hope those other salonistas having job finding trouble manage to get something ok soon as well.

Marv, & a welcome to RV50.
Had a go at joining LibraryThing - and promptly stumbled over Ottox. One annoyance is that when searching up an author, you can click on a book's link to add it but then the list's gone so you can't click your way through it to add more of 'em. It seems.
I'd put my one-vote-only on the fish slapping dance, too
Very nice with the mini meet lonag away from home, Teuchter.

The LibraryThing (or something similar) would be an excellent thing for me to do, but I'm going to have to wait until I move somewhere, as the vast majority of my books are in boxes right now.
Are any multi-library friendly? I'd like to keep my academic books separate from my non-academic (and me being me, I'd want them to be in alphabetical order, and sortable by topic/author/historical time period/keywords).

MR, Delicious Library works like iTunes, and allows you to create "shelves" that are essentially playlists. You can organize your books on as many shelves as you need. Also has "smart shelves" that will look for a keyword, say in the "notes" field for instance. So tagging is possible but I don't think you can sort on those terms, though you can sort on many other properties in "list" view.

Library Thing lets you organise your books in various 'shelves' mine are 'to be read' 'fiction' 'non fiction' etc.. and you can tag them and everything.

Home library -- my biggest problem is space, not organization. I may have to give a lot of my books away again. Take them to the library in the dead of night and overfill the book drop.

MR, that was awesome. I'm sure Eric will remember you.
My favorite Python sketch? Definitely the game show "Blackmail" with Michael Palin as the slimy host. Or maybe Miss Anne Elk and her new theory on the brontosaurus. No, Dennis Moore, Dennis Moore and his horse Concorde. Gah, there are too many.

Dinosaurs are thin at one end, thick in the middle and thin at the other end
I cn excuse my current level of silliness by the fact that I'm rather well oiled, or ginned.
We had drinkies in a bar on the sixty-fourth floor of some building - and then went to another which was merely on the sixth floor but which was where all the cool dudes hang. I even got my hand stamped on the way in. Sponsored by Time Out, aksherly.
Beautifully designed space with a mixture of very old and cutting edge contemporary - and as much as you could drink for eight quid.
The toilet merits its own post on my journal - if I still remember sufficient to write it up in the morning
I shall be wearing a jaggy bonnet in the morning, methinks.
