Mornin All
Cold 3.5 DegC, windy, sleety but we seenm to have avoided the Good ole Gulf Stream.
Z wouldn't you think that with all your driving lessons nobody bothered to tell you the basics about how to use the heater and washer I assume. Similar to passing your exams without having been taught to use a stethoscope.
Lil, good news about the pins. Thanks for the scribing, I'll volunteer for a 500 stint, just shout.

Good news that your leg's improved, Lil
It's a beautiful morning here in Hants. Jetlag woke me around 5am so I've seen plenty of it.
#3 passed his driving test several months ago but hasn't yet driven anything anywhere. He said he'd be too embarrassed to be seen driving my wee car but has recently changed his mind and is about to do a Pass+ course of six lessons which'll cover all sorts of different driving situations, including mnotorway.
This is a great idea; not only does the county give him £75 towards it but he'll also get a substantial discount on his first year's car insurance.
And his mother'll be a lot less worried
Apropos of nothing in particular ...
If you have few minutes to spare on youtube, this is worth a watch and listen; an eleven year old Korean boy, Sungha Jung, who's an talented guitarist.

Excellent news indeed about Lil's legs.
I can do a spot of scribing after Ben and WA if needed. Just let me know where to begin and where to end.
All gone snow. At least it has all gone here. The rest of the country is in for a lot more of it, I believe.

Glad to hear the legs are better, Lil. I was worried.
Good pics of the genie in last convo, and the LTTF "booby prize".
Freezing, so off to bed.

Yes great news about the legs Lil. Lets hope they stay non Gumby ish.
Rain mostly here, which is a big releif for me, i really didnt want 20cm of snow to wade through this morning.
Sending warm thought to those further south and still being affected by it.

Yay for Lil's slipped disc! What a relief to find out the cause.
B woke us all up today by rining from work to say that he had, actually, made it in. Fabulous, we growled, as the Star stirred out of his first sleep past 6am for a while. Ah well.

Hopefully the steroid shot can keep you mobile while anything else that may be wrong works towards being better.
While the snow had compacted down to about 4-6inches overnight I had no problems getting to work. Pull the boots on and get on with it. The train was on time and of course there was is no snow at all in the city centre now. Can't see what all the fuss is about.

Oh dear! I can see I'm in danger of earning the itchy blue pants
Took Max to the vet last night - he's been limping on and off for about a month now, so we thought it better to get it checked out. Booked in for X-ray on Thursday, wee pet.
Not so wee - on the scales last night he was 42 kg, and the vet showed us how to tell that he's a bit overweight (feeling for the ribs and spine). So it looks like restricted rations till he shifts a bit of surplus blubber!

Shouldn't think so. 5th LED is nothing, take it from one who only dreams about making it to the first one, let alone the FTTF.
And I meant to say, that in view of Hovooloo's signing to say he know's Z, A's S was the person who signed B's papers to say he is who he is for citizenship. Internet Weirdos unite!
Can you imagine the look on the Home Office's face if you were required to say how you know the person rather than what their relationship to you is?

Beatrice, the link is from the gundog guides and shows the standard diagrams for determining if dogs are fit. My two Springers get different diets. The dog has a lowere metabolism than the bitch who is very active, so he gets a standard feed while she gets a higher protein one. My Vet says 'dogs don't get fat on air' and you should feed by eye. If they are getting fat, give them less food.

I'm always amazed at how much dog food companies "recommend" you feed your dogs. I think the recommendation is ideal for the sale of dog food, and has nothing to do with the health of the pet. I feed Zeppo and Gummo about a quarter of the "recommended" amount. And Gummo is still fat.
I'm glad the steroids helped, Lil. Do they have you doing anything else to help mend?

Yup, I'm surprised that 'how to adjust the heater to defrost the window' didn't come up, but none of my driving lessons were in such bad whether.
I don't think pass plus would be much use *now* because primiarly it would'nt give that much of a discount to get the money back. And I have enough things to spend my money on.
And I'm getting quite good at motorways when the windscreen's clear. Though I have been onthem with B and with my parents.
I'm coming to the conculsion that you only really learn things by doing them on your own. Or I do. I can be taught how to, but I'm only really confident once I've done them unsupervised a few times.

I agree with learning by doing but, I hope I'm not coming the other way if your windscreen is misted up, or it's foggy, or icy, or you're trying to get accross Spaghetti junction.
Not sniping at you Z, just the system. More cars on the road, higher performance cars at that.

I wear the Order of Spaghetti Junction, for having navigated contraflow in winter, at night, while they were still building the thing.
Thanks again for well wishes, everyone. I'm feeling stronger and more confident about getting around. And in addition to the steroid shot the doctor prescribed 500 mg of ibuprofen several times a day, although I won't be able to pick up the Rx till tomorrow since I have the Roswell training today.
Count me among them as learns by doing -- I think I'm a slow learner.
I've been taking notes from the get-go here. Let's off the following slots:
501 to 1000
1001 to 1500
1501 to 2000
and then I'll pick up any slack at the end.
I really need to make sure I get put in a hotel with internet connection when I get to Albuquerque or else I'll have to reassign management of the whole thread while I'm away.

I was gonna ask if you wanted cement shoes to off them. You beat me with the correction though.
I think I am getting sick. This would not be surprising as I have spent a bit of time with my brother and his family, all of whom are sick now.
Staying up late working on kids' science fair projects probably doesn't help either.
