Thankyou lml.
Just before I go, Sol and I had a conversation ages ago about using questions to confirm understanding - a thing that teachers have to do a lot. It does of course mean that you risk sounding totally moronic.
It occurred to me that most of those questions come in to that category, and the ones that don't are crossed wires.
What do you think, Irv?

I would agree, Ben. Questions that aren't really questions at all. Sometimes they can sound moronic.

Some of those do fall into that category, but are poorly phrased. Phrasing a question well is tougher than it looks, I'll admit. Some of them are poorly understood, which is funny, too.

And of course, the grammarian in me deplores all the dangling modifiers.
I have a messy house, and no motivation to clean it up. I hate when that happens.

TCP, yeah, I knew that. But I had a barrowload of acronyms thrown at me today in post awful training, which featured what I think we all agreed was the worst kind of Powerpoint hell: about 120 slides of all-text slides accompanied by a handout that duplicated the slides and narrated by a guy who read the slides out loud to us.
My legs lasted just long enough to get me back to my car, where I had had the forethought to stash my bedroom slippers. After shedding the boots and donning the slippers, and sitting for a few minutes, I was able to drive home from Roswell. Had to skip any other errands, though. I'll rest up a while then head out to pick up my ibuprofen Rx.
So the roster for scribing is: 1-500 Lil
501-1000 David B
1001-1500 Ben
1501-2000 Wandering Albatross
2001-? Lil
Thank you, guys.

Phew. Here at last. Can I blame the snow? That's what everything else round here is being blamed on (well, that and the credit crunch). Apparently it was too cold to hold a pub quiz on Sunday , so we had to go and lose in a different pub.

*shudders* *again* Powerpoint hell sounds about right...
I have a song quote for Teuchter here - from a CD I had in my car tonight as I'm going to borrow it to a colleague tomorrow:
Just a while before I'll let you go
There's a long long way
From this dark lonely evening
To the morning light in China
gently kissing your eye
There's a long long way
There's a long long way
I'm wondering how far a
morning kiss can fly
Rest of the lyrics I posted (shame on me!) on my blog: http://tinyurl.com/bvpxzf
It's a lovely song, too (given that you like jazz) - there's a sample on the website and a link in the blog post.
Night - I'm also calling it a day. And tough one it has been, too. But generally OK.

A few things to do before my bedtime today.
Keep your fingers crossed for me tomorrow y'all. I'll tell you why later (don't worry, it's not bad).

What I hate especially is the trite conversation you hear in television shows, because there's so much plot exposition that the viewers will get lost. You know the kind - the investigator is entering the house, and as she does so, she tells her partner that a neighbor called in a smell of decomposition. What? Wasn't there time to do that on the way there? Or better yet, wouldn't the partner have done their job and read up on the call before they even got to the site? Arggh...

That was lovely, Santra,
Thank you.
I often wonder what time it is over there, and what he's doing.
Spoke to my wee sister on the phone earlier this evening. She's having nearly identical symptoms to you, Lil, and has been seeing a chiropractor.
I've suggested she ask to be referred for a DXA scan, to measure bone density, as it's likely she may have the same spinal problems as me and need to be taking meds to ward off full blown osteoporosis.
This getting older lark; it's a bu**er
* looks around carefully to see if she's left any dangling modifiers this time

Why did I not notice that K was poorly? His teacher told me earlier he'd had to have a nap at school? Bad mum, bad mum! (I was more concerned that he was just tired after the odd weekend we'd had and didn't want him to miss out on the 'Share' event we had going this afternoon). The poor buggar now has a temperature and I had to mop the bathroom floor

Good news about the legs, Lil.
Thanks for letting us know about Ag, Ben.
