h2g2 The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: Earth Edition

Ooooh hello and goodbye - I'm dashing off to London this weekend - ostensibly to do some shopping for a fabulous outfit for a posh book launch next month. So I dutifully spent all of this week laying out various outfits to wear (the trip includes being at the recording of the 50th anniversary Songs of Praise with Cliff Richard...), paring them down to a minimum, digging out a small handy suitcase, and neatly packing it.

At 4 am I woke up, remembering that the trip was a shopping one, and I really should have chosen a bigger case in case I buy something...

I'm watching "Tank Girl." There's something odd about a movie that was so far ahead of the curve, it almost looks modern now...

I noticed an odd phenomenon today. I wake up earlier on vacation that I do normally. Ah well, more time to get ready for the first day of the Austin City Limits Festival!

That was a great movie, MR. Now I'm going to have to watch it again.

Morning all! I've escaped the tiger's territory once and for all (I hope). My host is great, but her orang is not as friendly as Gwen's little monster who seems oddly fascinated by my hat.

Gwen, who's playing this year at ACL? I hope the weather is better... it's been stifling the last four years, and too hot for me.

Tank Girl is one of my favorites... great for quotes. "It's been swell, but the swelling's going down!"

[SG V] on training course (w**k) all weekend...

So far ACL has been a blast, even if the day did end in a death march back to the parking shuttle. If Gwen limps, it's at least half my fault, though we both missed the line for the shuttle first time around, and went a mile out of our way *before* the death march began.

Today we saw Jakob Dylan's new band, then Del the Funky Homosapien, then listened to Slightly Stoopid (from a poor acoustic angle where we mostly heard drums, but felt lots of bass). We wrapped up with G Love & Speacial Sauce. Tomorrow includes Beck for sure, and we haven't decided who else to see. Sunday will include at least Blues Traveler, the Foo Fighters, and either Gnarls Barkley or The Raconteurs, among others.

I'm gonna go soak my feet now.
