True enough, Witty!
I don't know...I'm of two minds on this one. As a parent, I get the wanting to take the breaks when there's no childcare available...private sitters are outrageously expensive. But I get the resentment from other people, too, those who don't have kids, and want to make sure they get equal consideration in who gets major holidays off.
So, why is it that workplaces are so family-unfriendly? I take my daughter with me to school sometimes (okay, so it's easier, since all I do is sit in lectures and hold discussion sections) but also to work (okay, I work in a pub, and she can help bus tables and stuff). But perhaps if more of us did these sorts of things? I guess taking your kid to work at, say, an ER, would be a bad idea, but why not to the office? Why do we have to go outside the workplace for childcare?
Anyway. Sorry, got off on a bit of a rant.
The cleaning last night provoked an allergy attack...one side of my head is all plugged up. Dang. Ah well. Damian Lewis is back on "Life" tonight, so that's something to look forward to!

MR, I made lavash (Armenian flatbread) with two dips: eggplant caviar and winter squash puree. I also baked a wheel of Brie and made Bellini cocktails from scratch, with white peach puree and raspberry coulis.
As for kids in the office, no. Children are disruptive. There are a few well behaved ones to be sure, but unless there's a separate series of rooms elsewhere in the building that can double as on-site childcare, then it's up to the parents to find something. I don't want to trip over my cubicle mate's kid every time I have to leave my desk.

It was bad enough to take two days off and find 54 posts awaiting my return.
But a whole new thread?
