I just got back from the bachelor party for the groom in Saturday's wedding. It was a great time, and teh bachelorette party for the same weddign also came to my bar after they got cut off at a local restaurant.
At the same time, a wake was occurring for a friend of the bar. Reed died on Tuesday. He was a gental pleasant man who is one of the first people I met at the bar on my first trip there.
To celebrate Reed's life, a number of the regulars and former staff from teh bar were in attendance.
The dichotomy of the party to celebrate teh wedding of a good freind and the wake to celebrate the life of a lost friend, was facinating. I hope to write in more detail later, but I must get some sleep to prepare for the weddign rehersal tomorrow.
and singing sea shanties in Gaelic
Hypatia Posted Aug 22, 2003
I'm glad it's Friday, as well. But since I always work Saturdays, I'd rather it was Saturday.
Still too hot and too dry. I have more books to discard. I'm only up to the 860's. I dread the history section. I never want to throw anything out. And a lot of it really needs to go. It makes no sense to keep things that are never used. Clutters the shelves and makes it harder to find what you're actually looking for. I'm glad I don't work in a research library where you're expected to keep everything forever.
A few of the salonistas, not up on their Gaelic, decided to have a hoe-down instead.

Three cases of West Nile virus in the area, all fatal, two equine and one in my next-door neigbor's paddock.
Others decided to have a hoe-up

Lil, they've found them down by the Salton Sea, and my kid is a veritable magnet for mosquitoes, so it makes me a little nervous. I didn't know horses could get it!

We've had it out with our landlord about a veritable quagmire that stands fetid just out our basement door; a perfect West Nile magnet. He's finally agreed to let us cement it and share the cost. Waiting on the work to start, as it's still unbearably 90+ degrees F around here...
Oh. And my apologies in advance if someone takes the thread subject amiss.

Garius Lupus Posted Aug 22, 2003
The best defence against West Nile is a strong immune system. Get lots of sleep, drink lots of water, don't touch your face, wash your hands a lot and don't eat sugar (one teaspoon of sugar lowers your immune defenses for 2 hours!). A good multi-vitamin and multi-mineral, along with additional Vitamin C is also a good daily preventative.

Okay, computer folks. What, besides using virus filtering email software, can be done against the SoBig virus? Or the natchez? The natchez apparently fixes the LoveSan, but then installs itself...

For starters you need to patch any NT 2000 or XP machine under your controll. that is the only "Fix" for this issue. Other than that, hope that your netadmins are good at writing access control lists.

I spent this morning running around town, calling people, visiting property management agencies and checking out local listings. Unfortunately, while I would *love* to buy my own home, in this area you need a double-income household to afford the monthly mortgage or a really, really, really well paying job. What this all comes down to, in the end, is that I should really move away from Missoula in order to live.
with the leftovers from the lutefisk fest
Montana Redhead (now with letters) Posted Aug 22, 2003
fg, I'm sure there's something somewhere. Somehow, you and Missoula are tied together.
There's always Lolo, or Milltown.

It is the first time in ages we that are having a take away curry on a Friday night
We have had lots of cloud today, temps of 25ÂșC, fairly humid, but no rain. I hate it when the weather doesn't do anything useful. The grass is brown and shrubs are beginning to wilt, even the trees are shedding leaves to cope with the lack of rain.
and, to tell the truth, a bit stinky from
