Tonight we have a selection of pasta dishes for your enjoyment.
Pasticcio de Lasagnette - layered meat, cheese, vegetables, and porcini mushrooms served with an arugula salad and a full-bodied Chianti Classico riserva
Pappardelle alla Contadina - freshly made broad egg noodles with mushrooms and Italian sausage in a Parmesan cream sauce served with roasted peppers and anchoies on Italianbread, ricotta strawberry parfait and a full-bodied Dolcetto from the Piedmont
Penne and mussels with herbed tomato and garlic sauce served with mushroom, endive and watercress salad with Italian vinaigrette and a mild Alsatian Gewurztraminer.
Or you can have spaghetti and meatballs and a beer.

Sorry to double post, but this is somewhat of a disturbing trend: Yesterday the gender quiz said I was a woman. Today the character test says I'm Galadriel. So far even most of the women in this thread were getting male characters on that quiz.
Maybe there's something my parents didn't tell me...

*looks daggers at Wolfgang, then at the salonistas* You don't want to eat that foreign muck. You don't know where it's been. Look at that with the noodles and shells! *shudders*

I am a woman and Jean Luc Picard. At least it wasn't James T.

I am Galadriel too, "Possessing a rare combination of wisdom and humility, while serenely dominating your environment you selflessly use your powers to care for others". Though in fact, as many of you know, in actual fact I AM Gytha Ogg. One of the problems is that I am EQUALLY likely to be having a caring sensitive conversation or a politically sophisticated one, depending on which is most appropriate at the time. Oh, and it appears to be no great shakes to be Galadriel: http://www.tk421.net/character/stats.html
Does anyone else map rl people onto characters in the Discworld? I have a friend who is convinced she is Vetinari, but who is actually Esme Weatherwax. The PL is mainly Mustrum Ridcully, (the way that scumble is mainly apples). Hoovooloo, (who some of you may know) is Dr Whiteface, and so on.
Lots of admin to do today, but I can clear it all in about a couple of hours.

I'm at Terri's at the moment, where I've happily spent two days drinking red wine and eating cheese at pavemnent cafes, this is a sterotypically pretty french town that isn't quite pretty enough to bring in the tourists... Terri and Yoda are both wonderful of course....

H is Yoda and No2 son is Gandalf.
Lately I've drempt about babies which is odd, because apart from the sons I don't particuarly like babies. I hated night duty on the maternity unit when there were 24 to 30 babies to be changed and fed, this was in the days before it was routine for Mums to have their babies beside them all the time. I have never gone gooey over other peoples so why am I dreaming about them?

I dreamt my clutch wasn't working and I was stuck in traffic. Poor Zeppo, I think I kicked him.

Sol Posted Jun 20, 2003
I find that I am becoming more like Miss Marple as I get older in that I link people I meet to other people I have known, even if superficially they have nothing in common. One of my colleagues here, for example, has _exactly_ the same stunning force of charm, and wields it in exactly the same way as a friend of mine from Uni. Once I worked that out, I was able to deal with him much better.
But sadly I have found my fictional double. Ever seen a film called 'Peter's Freinds'? The Emma Thompson character is me to a T. While the people who went with me were kind enough to say they couldn't see it, when I reeled in shock out of the Cinema - they hadn't known me that long - my Best Friend, who has known me since I was 10, admitted that the thought had crossed her mind when she was watching it.

Emma played a rather desperate, insecure and addled person in that film. Are you sure that's you?
I dreamt that someone at my office was fired and that when they went to clean out his desk they found two guns.
