I bid a happy new year to all of the denizens of this blessed salon. May peace be the rule rather than the exception and may the new year be a damned site better than the old.
Salud!

Happy New Year to all.

We haven't figured out what caused the issue. It's interesting because we have one vegetarian that also got sick. We have some in the family who are adamant that it was the flu. But how do you reconcile that with 30 people, all sharing a common meal who all came down with the same symptoms at approximately the same time.
FG - it should be noted that it was at my cousins house, and I have successfully avoided food poisoning at my house by a paranoid washing of hands and cutting boards

I've decided that New Year's resolutions are never a good idea, at least for me. This year, I resolve not to make any.

Neat article, How did you bribe the towers to do the video?
Happy new year all

Regrettably, I can't run the video clip. I refuse to let RealPlayer anywhere near my computer until it reforms its policy of sticking icons everywhere and hijacking file attachments.

The article is quite interesting, though. I think that ley lines are fascinating! When I lived in Windsor, I often took the Long Walk from the castle up to the equestrian statue of George IV. Where the statue rests is a ley line junction, and one line runs right along the Long Walk and under the Norman Mound in Windsor Castle.

No bribery of the Towers is necessary although this is, I believe the first Entry to have a video clip. It's a simple enough trick. Just write an article about something that is close enough for them to pop over and film! I didn't even know about it until it was made. The voice is the lovely Sam's and his director was Ashley.

Great job, Coely. I'd read it when it was still 'controversial' and enjoyed it very much. I'd rather think that the video clip is your reward for a job well done. Those italics, what a nice bunch!

What a super article! Congrats.
Mac - I don't know if people actually set out to ruin a set of books by taking or not returning the second volume or if it's a wild coincidence. But it always seems to be the second one that goes missing. With longer series the one that vanishes is always the one out of print. So we know that the theft in that case is deliberate.
A neighboring librarian had several books disappear and then turn up for sale on Ebay. The culprit was apprehended.

I have a book I bought from a bookseller that was removed from a library (a history of the inquisition) with all the appropriate markings (removed stamps, etc), that I was accused of stealing. I know I'm not always on time with my returns, but stealing is just wrong!

I have made two New Year's resolutions. The first is to get back into yoga, a session at least three times a week, and the second is making people who know me laugh far and wide. No junk food for the New Year. Right now, my co-workers have a pool going on this one. $.25 a day each until I crack or they can buy themselves a big lunch at McDonalds or Burger King, which they will then eat in front of me.
They've seen me in action... A few months ago I ate a whole bag of dill pickle chips at my desk and then was decidedly from the effects of the salt. I swore up and down I would never eat another chip. Two days later I was spotted with a bag of lime-flavored tortilla chips.
A Happy New Year to all!

The snow hath hit. We have just had four inches of snow in less than an hour. It has lightened up a bit but we still have snow a falling.

I blew last year's resolution, which was the best one I'd ever made. I vowed to learn the second verse of something. The later verses of some old standards (Christmas carols, the Battle Hymn of the Republic, our national anthem, ect.) tend to be really good, but none of us know them. I tried, but not as hard as I should, and no second verses stuck.
What I'd like to celebrate this year is thursday. It's month one (Europeans note, Americans put the month first, then the day), day two, year three. I can't wait for 4:56.
What I like the most about this is it's a neat coincidence of numbers that no one has ;claimed means the world is coming to an end.

A Happy New Year to you all!
The year is an hour old here. It has been a terribly cold one so far. Fireworks were magnificent, the best I've ever seen!

Happy New Year from me too! *waves at Salonistas from January 2003 together with Hati*
Only -5 C but a cold wind that's blowing the fireworks sideways... Swedes are nuts about fireworks on New Year's Eve/New Year's Day - the sky is still full of them!
