In and out today. I have to make Casa del Marv habitable for my new years party today. Tis the last day of my reprive from work, so I must make the most of it.

All the talk of Legos caused me to go see what was in the old library toy box. We have three empty Lego boxes and exactly 1 loose piece was in Raggedy Ann's apron pocket. So I won't be building anything today. smiley - cross The Tinker toys are also gone..........box and all (must have been a big back pack), as is a wooden abc puzzle that I bought just last month. However the regular building blocks are still here.

Just another day in paradise.

Ah, Titania, don't be hard on here -- read enough backlog and you're lucky to hold on to all the ideas you want to answer, let alone who said them...

And off to the post office where it's always more fun to pick up the mail when you don't have to sort it yourself. smiley - smiley

I just wanted the thanks to go to the right person, that's all!smiley - smiley

Backlog yes - especially bad here - catching up you think of at least a dozen things you want to reply to once you make it through - but by the time you've made it you have forgotten them...smiley - weird

Thanks for the well wishes. Apparently my entire family (30 people) got some sort of food poisoning at Xmas dinner. smiley - sadface

Feeling better, but still worn out.

Ouch! Try drinking plain tea with a bit of salt (just a little, or it'll taste smiley - yuk) and sweetened with dextrose - not too tough on the stomache, and will probably help soothing it - skip the salt unless you've been vomiting a lot...

Nora - back from the Dublin meet!

I get lost in backlog too, which is part of the reason I'm logging on every day.

Thanks for the Lego link, WM - there's some really neat stuff there! Unfortunately, the Mindstorm stuff seems to require Windows 98. My friend uses Linux and I use Windows 2000, so it doesn't look like that's coming to a home near me. Will invest in some old-fashioned sets instead.

I had a look for my old Lego, but I can't find it - I think we gave it away. smiley - sadface

Hypatia, is it the little kids stealing the toys or do you suspect some other miscreants?

I'm quite happy to be corrected, unless its by my Dad then even at my age that puts me in a sulk smiley - winkeye

Whilst rummaging for the Crimble decks I came across the Lego Pirate Island in the attic. We lost the instructions years ago, but I could probably still assemble it given enough time.

I think tomorrow might just be a little drier than today, so we may get to one of the Yuletide events at either Hampton Court Palace or the Weald and Downland Open Air Museum. I'm getting fed up of only venturing to the shops or supermarket in the pouring rain.

I suspect that the older kids are the ones who are lightfingered. The little ones would need help getting things out of the building. The older kids come in with back packs and book bags. We have a small staff, so it's hard to keep as good an eye on them as we should. smiley - cross

We've lost an unusually large number of books lately, also. It's part of doing business, but the numbers normally aren't that high.

Ah, cold rainy weather would put anyone into a sulk. I hate the winter. So many gray, gloomy days. smiley - blue

I'm old enough to remember when Legos didn't have themes...they were just a big box of various parts and sizes, and you put them together any way you wanted. I made a lot of robots.

I combined mine with my Star Wars figurines and made some nifty spaceships and a cantina or two.

Just the thought of my sister-in-law's pumpkin pie can turn most folks green, but I don't think it has actually poisoned anyone. smiley - winkeye

Steal from the public library? You might as well steal from yourself.

I tried saying "You want a death ray?" to Zeppo a couple of times. Whenever I say it, he just stops chewing whatever it is he's chewing and gives me a smiley - cross look, as if to say "why would you burden me with such responsibility?" and "it would take all the fun out of catching squirrels."

Also saw LoTR:tTT today. Wow. Can I pre-order the DVD (extended version) yet?
