Bet Zeppo would like the death ray if it was disquised as a telephone.
I want to see TT so bad. But I'd feel guilty leaving Frank at home while I go to the movies. It should stick around for another few weeks. Surely he'll be able to go before it closes. There's no way he could sit with his leg dangling for that long right now.

I still haven't seen it
Even my neighbor, who hates those sorts of movies, has seen it. And liked it.

Further trouble, one of the pugs was showing interest in a TV add for wood chippers this afternoon.

Titania (gone for lunch) Posted Dec 31, 2002
The cloudy sky from yesterday has cleared up, and everything (snow-covered) is bathing in a golden light - I'm off for another walk! I'd better dress warmly though, -16 C...

Stealing from public libraries is disgusting - but at least it suggests a literate class of crook... No it doesn't work for me either...
I am SO glad it isn't just me who has backlogophobia...
I haven't seen Harry Potter or the Two Towers yet, but I may kidnap the teenage son of a friend, he wants to see TT again, which looks like a bargain to me.
Happy New Year, everyone.

to Ben, nice to see you passing through
Stealing from public libraries? I never could work out why.
As for whoever was talking about the lego mindstorm and Linux, it sure does work. There is a programming environment for it that runs on Macs as well. The geek publisher O'Reilly have a book all about it...
I'll be going to see LOTR:TT at some point once life has calmed down and I'm not going here there and everywhere like you do over xmas and new year.

I think Cassie must have a ring-tailed lemur somewhere in her ancestry. For no apparent reason she will suddenly leap straight up in the air, she did it yesterday whilst quietly tucking in to her supper. She was so startled she did it again, I wonder what Pedigree had put in with her lamb in gravy? Her tail has ginger, beige and black rings around it and she tends to hold it straight up increasing the lemur impersonation
I haven't tried saying 'death ray' to her yet. She is fascinated by the DVD eject tray and has been seen trying to work out how to get into it.
It is amazing how things get nicked from libraries, our local one posted a list of the toys that had disappeared from the children's section, which included a couple of chairs!

My horoscope on Yahoo this morning gave me pause. It says, among other things, "You may find yourself slipping into fanciful scenarios and curious role-playing in which people take on a persona that is not quite themselves."
It's not backlogophobia, agcBen, as much as backlogorrhea...
But it's nice to see you again after a long absence, and you too Phil.

So far no one has stolen any of our chairs. But we did have a young girl who would ride up to the back door or her bike, run inside and unscrew the light bulb from an old fixture at the bottom of the emergency stairs and take off with it. She did this so quickly that by the time we saw her coming...if we did since we can't spend all day looking out the back windows for girls on bikes...she was gone. So I started using 150 watt bulbs. They were so hot that she couldn't manage them. We heard a scream one day and went down and she was riding off without a lightbulb.
Books most likely to be stolen from public libraries.....anything dealing with witchcraft and the occult; ; Carlos Castenada type things; the second book in a trilogy; books on how to improve your memory; anything with naughty pictures; books on religion, oddly enough; diet books; GED and SAT study guides; and juvenile and ya award-winning books and/or challenged books. Also anything that is trendy. So for the past year we've lost lots of HP and LOTR books, for example. No one has stolen the Pullman books yet, but we took a hit on LLoyd Alexander a while back.
Happy New Year.

Well done Coely a nice article and how did you manage to get a video clip as well? Bribing the editors was it

I enjoyed the article, Coely and shall look out for the London Stone next time I'm in that direction. I have never heard of it before in spite of having lived in London for 9 years. But then when you are a local you rarely read local guide books.
Just back from the Weald and Downland Open Air museum, they have added virtual tours to their website:

We were served mulled wine in Bayleaf and mulled cider in Pendean

I tried "death ray" on Lucy this morning. She stared at me, sat up straighter and her pupils dilated. I thought that was an interesting reaction until she did the same thing when I said "banana" and "shoe".

Hypatia, people steal the middle book of a trilogy? I'd love to figure that one out!
