I wonder what you would make of the UK, Marv? I know my Canadian sister find its claustrophobic.
Turkey sarnies for lunch and turkey curry this evening. The carcase is in the stockpot. The rest has been carved and frozen to be reheated in gravy once the family have forgetten about it
H bought me an optical mouse like the sons have, yesterday. He hasn't installed it yet, but once he does I shall be thoroughly confused by it now doubt! He also got me a USB hub thingy so that I don't have to keep unplugging the serial port adaptor each time I want to connect the camera or mini disc player.
I am glad that Frank is safely home H, and that you had a good Christmas in spite of the previous few weeks of worry and stress.

It is a day when I have no particular responsibilities and will be spending a lot of time learning how to create planets. After I have a cup of tea and watch the megaphotons for a while. Chloe has invented some sort of mobile to hang over the spout, and it's diverting the stuff all over the place.

Drat, drat, drat. I woke up this morning to several inches of *the* white stuff on the ground. The Department of Transportation's website says the roads are going to be snowcovered, snowpacked and icy all the way home.
I should have left for Missoula yesterday...I have a bad feeling about this.
As for your question, Sporky, while I didn't get any coal someone *did* give me a box of applets and cotlets.

Applets and cotlets? What are those? Small applications and clots?

I would just like to confirm what Phil said: rain, rain, rain. Quite a contrast to the glorious snow-covered landscapes in your photos, Lil.
Oh, and thanks for the book! I'll snuggle up with that later.
*Looks at the mobile sending the flowing light in all directions.*
What a wonderful idea of Chloe's.
I'm stuffed. *Goes downstairs to get some more pickled onions.* Back to normal meals tonight, though, with spaghetti bolognese. I'm not sure how much turkey is left. It was a normal-sized one shared between five people, so probably not as much as some...
As you can see by my presence, the new harddrive is working wonderfully. I've reinstalled most of my programs, and have seperate partitions for files, programs, games, etc.
I'm currently downloading SuSE Linux, which is almost 4GB in size! Then there's the source which is another 2GB, but I don't need that yet. Next time you see me, I could well be posting from one of those Linux browsers: Konqueror or something.

Well I was loving the mild mild weather until this morning when I woke up at 5am in increasing agony from shoulder pains. The damp, it appears, has got into my bones...
Happy Xmas all.

I got most of what I wanted, Sporky, and when I get back to Ireland I'll probably get money and book tokens, so there's still hope for more cool stuff.

Amy the Ant - High Manzanilla of the Church of the Stuffed Olive Posted Dec 27, 2002
Great excitement at the Nest! There was a smash and grab raid on the travel agents next door but one. I was just having a glass of wine and watching Time Team when I heard glass breaking and an alarm starting. There was a turquoise hatchback car parked in the service road outside the Nest. The driver was holding the passenger door open. Then a man ran from the direction of the shops carrying a computer. He got into the car and it drove over the pavement at the side of the bus shelter and headed off towards Leeds city centre. I rang the Police and then went outside. A whole bunch of orthodox Jews were giving statements to a policeman. He came and took a statement from me later on.
They're just boarding up the window now.

Wow, Amy! You're a witness. If they catch the perps, there may be a courtroom drama in your future!

Mac (having trouble typing with a pug dog in his lap) Posted Dec 28, 2002
My dogs want a death ray.
My wife and I were watching "Diamonds Are Forever" and when we discussed the plot during the commercials the dog's ears would prick up whenever we mentioned "Death Rays." So Kelly asked them, "Do the puggies want a death ray?" And the dogs immediately came to attention. "If you are very good doggies then we will get you a death ray." The dogs became excited, barking and letting their toungues hang out.
Kelly goes to work, leaving me with the dogs. Perhaps I am anthropomorphizing, but the dogs followed me with their eyes all day, as if to say "So, where's our death ray? Will it get her soon? Huh? Will it, will it?!" It's been like that all day. I'm not sure what to do.
My dogs want a death ray.
